Star Wars Voice Actor Dead At 64

A voice actor from the popular “Star Wars” and “Gremlins” franchises has tragically passed away at age 64.

Mark Dodson, responsible for voicing Salacious Crumb in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of The Jedi and Mogwai in the Gremlins film franchise was found dead from a massive heart attack on Saturday.

The voice actor was set to make an appearance at this year’s Horror Con—a film and comic convention.

For those who don’t know, Salacious Crumb was one of the puppet-like figures seated at the feet of Jabba the Hutt—he was one of Hutt’s henchmen.

Fans and media outlets alike mourned the death of the popular voice actor:

The New York Post featured this statement from Dodson’s talent agency:

“Mark worked on dozens of movies, video games, commercials and advertisements adding his unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched.

Mark truly loved his fans and enjoyed meeting them at conventions around the world.

Mark was honored to be inducted into dozens of the local chapters of the Star Wars 501st Legions over the past several decades.”

Friend and fellow actor Kirk R. Thatcher paid his respects to Dodson: “I don’t grieve well and This one hits hard. My buddy, Mark Dodson, has died. We’ve been friends for 42 years, but rarely got to see each other except at conventions. Here’s a little taste of the kind of fun we would have for hours when we got together. RIP my friend.”

USA Today added:

Dodson returned to the “Star Wars” film franchise in 2015 when he scored the role of Niima Scavenger in “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,” which starred Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac.
