It is with regret that we must bring you yet another story of a celebrity who has died suddenly and unexpectedly.
Canadian actor Chris Gauthier, who starred in iconic roles in hit television series such as “Eureka” and “Once Upon A Time”, has tragically passed away at age 48. Fox News confirmed:
Gauthier’s representatives, Tristar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent confirmed the news to Fox News Digital in a statement, writing, “We can confirm that our friend and client, Chris Gauthier, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48.”
Not much is currently known about the cause of death for the actor, only that he died after a brief battle with an ‘unspecified’ illness.
WLTR cannot confirm if Gauthier was vaccinated against COVID-19, but Canadian actors almost certainly are.

Been on my mind all day but wanted to say. So sad to have lost Chris Gauthier. Seemed like the nicest guy. And absolutely nailed it as one of my all time favorite characters on OUaT. Heartbroken to have lost him so soon. pic.twitter.com/K2lLzwBFZh

When I saw Colin's post this morning I thought "oh, a OUAT post!" But then I saw the caption and it was such a shock. It's been hours and it still feels unreal. He had such a positive energy at conventions and was so happy to be there with us! RIP Chris Gauthier 😔 https://t.co/yC14QGg9aD pic.twitter.com/kKPiXdyv78

BBC News shared more of the tributes to the deceased actor:
Talent representative Chad Colvin said he was a “textbook definition of a character actor”.
“You may not have known his name but you knew his face… if he was on screen, you were in for a helluva ride,” he said.
Mr Colvin, from Tristar Appearances, said Gauthier “always gave it his all when the camera was rolling”.
