No one wants to vote for a RINO or a self-proclaimed never-Trumper.
The Republican base is now grassroots-based and MAGA—this is where the conservative movement is today. It isn’t 2003 anymore.
Some, including self-styled ‘Republican’ Nassau County legislator Mazi Pilip, don’t seem to grasp this point. Gone are the days of the National Review conservative. Today’s conservatism is a radical anti-establishment movement.
I don’t necessarily blame Pilip for missing the mark on this; after all, who could have seen or predicted that the American right wing would become the anti-war, anti-government, anti-pharmaceutical coalition?
I certainly didn’t. I grew up in the days of the Iraq War and the Bush regime. Still, she should have been better informed, she was running for office.
This is why Pilip lost her race to Tom Suozzi for New York’s Third Congressional District’s recent special election to replace George Santos—no one wants a RINO, not even Dems!
President Trump posted a response to Truth Social condemning Pilip for her foolish views that cost the GOP yet another seat in the House:
Republican Mazi Pilip, a registered Democrat and anti-Trump, lost the New York 3 special election. This is as House Dems are looking for 7 House Republicans to sign a discharge petition to pass the Ukraine bill. Never Trumpers are a disaster for America.

Mazi Pilip was a registered Democrat during her race. She also did not support President Trump. So why are people lying and saying a Trump candidate lost NY-3? Pilip did have the support of Ronna Romney. That’s why the GOP is getting new leadership.

The New York Post broke down the vote:
Suozzi, 61, topped Republican rival Mazi Pilip, a 47-year-old Nassau County legislator, in Tuesday’s special House election to retake the hotly contested seat on a snowy day.
With 93% of the votes tallied, Suozzi led Pilip 53.9% to 46.1%.
Simon Ateba put the loss into greater perspective: “The left celebrates that they just flipped George Santos’ seat in New York. Democrat Tom Suozzi beat ‘Republican’ Mazi Pilip. Under Mike Johnson, Santos was expelled, now they have lost power. The small margin getting even smaller.”

CNN added:
The chair of the House Republican’s campaign arm, Rep. Richard Hudson, argued that they could have done a better job encouraging early voting in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, and said he would speak with former President Donald Trump about the issue.
Trump has criticized early and mail-in voting in the past. Hudson added that the weather could have depressed Republican turnout.
