Biden Mocked Over Bizarre Superbowl PSA Complaining About Size of Ice Cream Cartons

Joe Biden is ready to tackle one of the biggest, most serious issues facing our nation: the shrinking size of ice cream packaging.

Although he skipped out on the traditional pre-game interview, Biden posted a Super Bowl PSA on his X account during the big game.

In the video, Biden attacked snack companies for ‘Shrinkflation’ especially when it comes to his favorite Super Bowl Sunday treat…

“As an ice cream lover, what makes me the most angry is that ice cream cartons have actually shrunk in size but not in price. I’ve had enough of what they call Shrinkflation. It’s a rip off,” Biden complained,

“Some companies are trying to pull a fast one by shrinking the products little by little and hoping you won’t notice,” he continued,

“Give me a break. The American public is tired of being played for suckers. I’m calling on companies to put a stop to this.”

If you missed it, you can watch the full Biden Super Bowl PSA here for yourself:

Biden’s message struck a chord with a lot of Americans, but probably not for the reasons he was hoping for.

Many Americans took to social media to call out the irony of Biden’s complaints, given his administration’s track record…

Take a look at these reactions:

Fox News commented on the response to Biden’s PSA:

President Biden celebrated Super Bowl Sunday in what many saw as a bizarre and ironic video attacking snack companies for inflation.

Though the president skipped out on the traditional pre-game interview, the White House’s X account posted a pre-recorded video of Biden talking about “Shrinkflation.”

“While you were Super Bowl shopping, did you notice smaller-than-usual products where the price stays the same? Folks are calling it Shrinkflation and it means companies are giving you less for every dollar you spend. I’m calling on the big consumer brands to put a stop to it,” the post read.

In the video, Biden said, “It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and if you’re anything like me, you like to be surrounded by a snack or two while watching the big game. You know, when buying snacks for the game, you might have noticed one thing: sports drinks bottles are smaller, [a] bag of chips has fewer chips, but they’re still charging just as much.”

He continued, “As an ice cream lover, what makes me the most angry is that ice cream cartons have actually shrunk in size but not in price. I’ve had enough of what they call Shrinkflation. It’s a rip off. Some companies are trying to pull a fast one by shrinking the products little by little and hoping you won’t notice. Give me a break. The American public is tired of being played for suckers. I’m calling on companies to put a stop to this. Let’s make sure businesses do the right thing now.”

CBS News also reported on the video:

President Joe Biden doesn’t want corporate greed to eat into your snacks.

In a video posted Sunday to X, formerly known as Twitter, the president called on companies to put a stop to “shrinkflation.”

“You might have noticed one thing, sports drink bottles are smaller, a bag of chips has fewer chips, but they’re still charging you just as much,” he said.

Shrinkflation is a widespread practice where businesses offer less of a product without reducing the price accordingly. It’s a common cost-saving tactic during periods of inflationary pressure. While inflation has slowed down to a three-year low, prices are still punishingly high for many Americans, who have found themselves getting consistently less for their buck when shopping for essentials.

Biden has struggled to get his economic message to break through ahead of the 2024 election. Economic indicators are telling a positive story, but many Americans feel that the president’s policy has made economic conditions in the country worse. A majority of Americans (55%) said in a recent CNN poll that they believe Biden’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the country, while just 26% believe his policies have improved conditions.
