The Texas Republican party has just voted to officially censure State House Speaker Dade Phelan for leading the impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton last May and giving Democrats seats in chair committees.
The resolution was overwhelmingly passed, with a vote of 55-4.
Take a look at the breaking news:

Last year, Dade Phelan showed up to the Texas House floor seemingly drunk and slurring his speech.
Here’s a clip of that:

The Houston Chronicle has more details on the censure of RINO Speaker Phelan:
The state GOP’s executive committee censured Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan on Saturday for facilitating the impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton and appointing Democrats to chair committees.
The resolution was approved overwhelmingly by a vote of 55-4, with four abstentions. It needed 39 votes to pass.
As a result, the party will not financially support the Beaumont Republican during the GOP primary and may endorse an opponent. Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi has already personally backed one of Phelan’s challengers, former executive committee member David Covey, who is running against the speaker from his right in the March 5 election.
“If we were judging Dade based on his generosity, this could never pass. But we’re not,” said executive committee member Chris Breaux of Beaumont, who added that he has long considered Phelan a friend. “We’re voting on what he’s done that’s violated our rules. I wish that I could support Dade Phelan in this, but I can’t. He’s wrong. He’s been obstinate in his wrongness.”
The censure comes amid an ongoing civil war within the Texas GOP, which has fractured in recent months over Paxton’s impeachment and the House’s rejection of Gov. Greg Abbott’s private school voucher plan. Rinaldi and other conservatives have lambasted Phelan as a “RINO,” or a Republican in name only.
Our friends over at The Gateway Pundit provided some additional context on why Dade Phelan was censured:
Paxton last May called for Dade Phelan to resign after “Texans were dismayed to witness his performance presiding over the Texas House in a state of apparent debilitating intoxication.”
ADVERTISEMENTA couple of days later, Dade Phelan and other RINOs in the Texas House announced it would vote on a resolution to impeach Ken Paxton on unfounded charges.
The 20 articles include “bribery, unfitness for office and abuse of public trust” – according to the Associated Press.
While serving as Attorney General in Texas Ken Paxton defended 12 lawsuits related to election laws.
Democrats wanted to open the elections to mail-in ballots and ID-free voting and sued Texas to institute these unconstitutional practices in Texas elections. AG Paxton and his staff won every single one of these cases and prevented Democrats from stealing Texas like they were able to do in Georgia and Arizona. Ken has been fighting for free and fair elections in Texas and understands what a huge issue this is in our country today.
Paxton also stood up to the Big Tech tyrants.
The people LOVE Ken Paxton and reelected him to office in 2022.
Just days before the RINOs voted to recommend impeachment, Ken Paxton called on Texas Speaker Dade Phelan to resign for being drunk in the Texas Capitol.
In September Texas Senators acquitted Attorney General Ken Paxton on all 16 articles of impeachment brought against him.
ADVERTISEMENTShortly after Paxton was acquitted, Texas GOP leadership in a 58-2 vote approved a resolution calling for Dade Phelan to step down from his leadership position.
