BREAKING: US and UK Launch Airstrikes on Houthi Rebels in Yemen

In a significant development, the United States and the United Kingdom have carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes on Houthi rebel positions in Yemen. The strikes come in response to escalating attacks on vessels in the Red Sea and mark a dramatic escalation of a simmering regional conflict in the Middle East.

The strikes were conducted in multiple locations, including the capital city of Sanaa, targeting training bases and drone-launching sites. The decision to strike the Yemeni rebels follows a day of frenetic behind-the-scenes activity in both the US and UK, including emergency meetings and consultations with allies.

In a statement, US President Joe Biden confirmed that the strikes were a “clear message” to the Houthis and that the US “will not hesitate” to strike again if necessary. The UK Ministry of Defence also released a statement in support of the strikes, citing the need to protect international shipping lanes and the free flow of commerce.

The strikes have been met with mixed reactions from the international community. While some have praised the actions of the US and UK in responding to the Houthi attacks, others have expressed concern about the potential for further escalation in the region.

Take a look:

I think this perfectly sums it up:

Iran is attacking US military bases.

The US & UK are attacking Houthis.

Ukraine and Russia are still going at it.

Israel and Hamas are still going at it.

And NONE of this was happening when Trump was President.

Biden said he’d restore our global standing.

All he did was cause a global war.

Exactly right!

No new wars under Trump….only peace and prosperity.

President Trump rightly had the Houthis designated as a terror organization….Biden reversed that.  Now Biden is bombing them.

Have you figured it out yet?

All they want is constant war:

From the BBC:

Sunak confirms strikes by Royal Air Force

In a statement released at the same time as Biden’s, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says that the Royal Air Force participated in the attacks on “facilities used by Houthi rebels in Yemen”.

“The United Kingdom will always stand up for freedom of navigation and the free flow of trade,” he says.

“We have therefore taken limited, necessary and proportionate action in self-defence, alongside the United States with non-operational support from the Netherlands, Canada and Bahrain against targets tied to these attacks, to degrade Houthi military capabilities and protect global shipping.”

And from ABC News:

The U.S. military has unleashed large-scale retaliatory strikes against multiple Houthi targets in Yemen following months of attacks by the Iranian-backed militants on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, a U.S. official said Thursday.

The official said that the strikes involved a mix of fighter jets and Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from Navy surface ships and a U.S. Navy submarine, according to two U.S. officials.

One of the officials identified the submarine as the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Florida, which was seen entering the Red Sea via the Suez Canal on Nov. 5, a move publicized by U.S. Central Command.

Another U.S. official confirmed that the United Kingdom also was using its military assets to launch strikes against Houthi targets.

President Joe Biden, who had been under pressure to respond, but hoping to avoid risking wider regional conflict, issued a statement calling the move a “defensive action” after extensive warnings.

“Today, at my direction, U.S. military forces — together with the United Kingdom and with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands — successfully conducted strikes against a number of targets in Yemen used by Houthi rebels to endanger freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most vital waterways,” he said.

“These strikes are in direct response to unprecedented Houthi attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea — including the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles for the first time in history. These attacks have endangered U.S. personnel, civilian mariners, and our partners, jeopardized trade, and threatened freedom of navigation,” his statement said.
