The long-running game show Jeopardy unexpectedly fired one of its co-hosts recently.
According to a post from co-host Mayim Bialik, Sony informed Bialik that she would no longer be co-hosting the popular televised game show.
Neither Sony nor Bialik gave detailed reasons for why she is no longer hosting the show with Ken Jennings.
Bialik has reportedly been absent from the show since May of 2023, and it has been rumored that she would not be returning to the show since September of this year.
Sources say the 47-year-old actress sought a diminished role in Jeopardy because she was taking part in Screen Actors Guild and writer’s strikes. Bialik announced on Saturday:

Daily Mail explained:
The Big Bang Theory vet was replaced by Jennings on Celebrity Jeopardy! after her decision to step back from her role in support of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
ADVERTISEMENTAs a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) union, she bowed out of filming the game show in its final week of shooting the 39th season and left Jennings to take over in the interim.
Though the specific reason for Bialik’s firing from the game show has not been disclosed by Sony, some are speculating that it was her participation in these videos below that got her fired.

Fox News provided some background information on Bialik:
In September 2021, Bialik and Jennings were tapped to host the show through the end of season 38 while executives searched for a permanent new host.
Prior to hosting “Jeopardy!,” Jennings was the quiz show’s most successful contestant in history.
The Washington native holds the record for longest “Jeopardy!” winning streak, notching 74 consecutive wins over five months in 2004.
