It is absolutely insane that we are funding a dictatorship holding an American journalist indefinitely for simply spilling the truth.
Gonzalo Lira did nothing wrong. All he did was report on what was going on inside Ukraine—what was actually going on, not what the propaganda outlets would have us believe.
For that he was jailed by a dictatorial puppet regime, but what else can we expect from a dictatorial regime? Ukraine is one of the most corrupt nations on the planet and certainly the most corrupt one in Europe.
Tucker Carlson recently drew attention to the plight of our brother Gonzalo Lira and sought answers from the ‘leadership’ of both America and Ukraine regarding the status of the jailed American journalist.
Now, Elon Musk has followed suit and is personally doing the same via his platform.
Hopefully, all of the attention currently being drawn to Gonzalo’s unjust imprisonment by figures like Carlson and Musk will add pressure to set the journalist and writer free.
An American YouTuber has been imprisoned for 5 years in Ukraine, and allegedly tortured, for making videos.
This is not ok. https://t.co/NPbvARtnde

Interesting. This Note is being gamed by state actors. Will be helpful in figuring who they are.
Thanks for jumping in the honey pot, guys lmao!

State propaganda outlet, The New Voice of Ukraine, disseminated this regarding Lira’s arrest:
An investigation found that Lira’s videos denied Russian war crimes and justified Russian aggression.
Lira claimed that Ukraine was shelling its own territory and a neo-Nazi regime ruled the country.
Such activities constitute a criminal offense under Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
David Sacks noted the hijacking of the Community Notes feature in this instance and criticized the dictatorship of Ukraine:
“Community Notes is generally an excellent system, but the Ukrainian info war op figured out how to game it awhile ago. Gonzalo Lira published YouTube videos critical of the Ukrainian government.
He did not give away positions; this is a silly claim since there are many channels showing exactly where the battle fronts are.
Ukraine has the right to expel him from the country if it wants, but imprisoning him for journalism is outrageous. As an American citizen, our State Department should demand his release.”

Interestingly enough, I didn’t find a single major American news outlet discussing the plight of Gonzalo Lira. Instead, what I found was this hit piece from New York Daily News, I guess we know where they stand:
Pro-Russian blogger and misogynist dating coach Gonzalo Lira, also known as “Coach Red Pill” online, has been arrested by Ukrainian authorities on charges of wartime propaganda.
Lira, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Chile, had been living in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv where he’d become a controversial online personality by spreading misinformation that attempted to justify Putin’s armed invasion of Ukraine.
