WORLD WAR 3? Biden Raises Possibility of “American Troops Fighting Russian Troops”

Joe Biden suggested that we could soon see “American troops fighting Russian troops” if he didn’t get his way on a Ukrainian funding bill.

Prior to voting on a $111 billion Ukraine aid package, Biden gave Congressional Republicans a warning: Either pass the package now or pay with blood later when Americans troops are forced to join forces with NATO to combat Russia.

Biden accused “Republicans in Congress” of being “willing to give Putin the greatest gift he could hope for and abandon our global leadership.”

He went on to claim “If Putin takes Ukraine, he won’t stop there” and if that happens, “We’ll have something that we don’t seek and that we don’t have today: American troops fighting Russian troops.”

Hear Biden’s warning here for yourself:

House Republicans were not moved by Biden’s plea and blocked the billion-dollar spending bill from moving forward. Here’s more, from The Western Journal on MSN:

Biden then escalated his dire picture of what could happen without the aid being passed.

“If Putin takes Ukraine, he won’t stop there. It’s important to see the long run here. He’s going to keep going. He’s made that pretty clear. If Putin attacks a NATO ally — if he keeps going and then he attacks a NATO ally — well, we’ve committed as a NATO member that we’d defend every inch of NATO territory,” he said.

“Then we’ll have something that we don’t seek and that we don’t have today: American troops fighting Russian troops, American troops fighting Russian troops if he moves into other parts of NATO,” he said.

“Today’s vote is going to be long remembered,” Biden said.

On Wednesday, Congress blocked the aid package from moving forward, according to The New York Times.

The Senate defeated an effort to move forward with the bill 49-51. Sixty votes were needed. Likewise, the House has rejected efforts to move the $111 billion package forward. The package includes aid to Ukraine and Israel, as well as some border spending.

US News & World Report on MSN gave more details:

Noting that underdog Ukraine has managed to hang on for nearly two years after the Russian invasion of its western neighbor, Biden said, “We can’t let Putin win.” If the autocratic Russian leader succeeds in vanquishing Ukraine, he may well continue his aggression to include a NATO member country, triggering the security alliance rule that demands other NATO countries come to its defense.

“If Putin takes Ukraine, he won’t stop there,” Biden warned.

And then, “We’ll have something that we don’t seek and that we don’t have today: American troops fighting Russian troops,” Biden said evenly.

The American president has consistently said he will not send American troops to fight in the Eastern European war, and polling has just as consistently shown that the American public does not want to send the U.S. military to fight there.

But the NATO charter doesn’t give the United States a choice: Should Putin – who has mused nostalgically for the days of the expansive Soviet empire – move in on Poland, for example, NATO nations, including the United States, would be duty-bound to help.

And if the United States or any other of the 31 countries in the alliance flinch at sending their own militaries to defend a fellow NATO member, Putin has achieved a key goal – to weaken NATO.

The White House has said that it will run out of money to send to Ukraine before the end of the year if Congress does not act.

The implications of what Biden said have folks online wondering about the potential for an impending World War 3:
