Rep. McCarthy Calls For Nikki Haley To Be Trump’s VP Pick

Rep. Kevin McCarthy shared who thinks Trump’s next VP pick should be.

During the New York Time’s DealBook Summit McCarthy stated that he thinks Trump should nab Nikki Haley as a running mate.

McCarthy stated, “If I was a political person, and I was going to advise somebody, you’re going to pick the vice president about addition, not subtraction.

He continued, “Now if I was picking for purely political decisions, what it looks like today is the anti-Trump vote is going to Nikki Haley.”

Here’s what The Hill reported:

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said in an interview Wednesday that he would advise former President Trump pick 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley as his running mate.

During the New York Times’s DealBook Summit, Andrew Ross Sorkin asked McCarthy who the “right person” would be for Trump to pick as his vice president among Haley, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and 2024 GOP presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.).

“If I was a political person, and I was going to advise somebody, you’re going to pick the vice president that’s about addition, not subtraction. So you’re not going to pick somebody that already equates to you,” McCarthy responded.

“Now if I was picking for purely political decisions, what it looks like today is the anti-Trump vote is going to Nikki Haley,” he added.

McCarthy said Trump would need to get the Republican base and independents to support him in order to win back the White House, noting there are some voters who refuse to vote for the former president.

Here’s what Newsmax:

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said former President Donald Trump should choose former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley as his running mate next year.

Trump currently is the clear front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Recent polls show Haley has overtaken Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for second place in the GOP primary field.

During the New York Times’s DealBook Summit on Wednesday, McCarthy was asked who would be the “right person” for Trump to pick as his vice president. Questioner Andrew Ross Sorkin offered four options: Haley, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.

“If I was a political person, and I was going to advise somebody, you’re going to pick the vice president, that’s about addition, not subtraction. So you’re not going to pick somebody that already equates to you,” McCarthy said, The Hill reported.

“Now if I was picking for purely political decisions, what it looks like today is the anti-Trump vote is going to Nikki Haley.”
