Nuclear Nightmare: Vehicle Pierces Power Plant Security – Terrorist Attack?

The Oconee Nuclear Station was breached by an unknown suspect driving a silver 2002 Toyota Camry.

The suspect forced his way onto the nuclear power station before emergency barricades were activated, prompting the man to try down a different path.

The suspect attempted to hit multiple security personnel before ultimately fleeing the see.

It’s currently unknown the whereabouts of the suspect, who was responsible, and if this indicates a graver threat to our national security.

Fox News shares more on the story:

Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call around 8:05 p.m. Thursday after learning a man driving a silver 2002 Toyota Camry drove through the exit side of the gate on the Highway 183 side of the plant.

“After the vehicle struck the pop-up barricades that security at the plant activated, the driver backed the vehicle up and proceeded down a dirt road, where Duke Energy security blocked the vehicle in, according to deputies. The driver then drove through a fence after attempting to hit the security officers,” a press release states.

Deputies said while the suspect was attempting to exit the facility, he once again attempted to hit a security truck with a guard in it.

The suspect then allegedly drove back onto Highway 183 into Pickens County and pulled onto some property on Jones Mill Road. Shots were fired, but investigators do not know the source of the shots fired.

This is a highly suspicious case.

What were the man’s intentions?

Is it possible that this was nothing more than to test the security of the power plant?

Some online have speculated that this might be a terrorist attack in the making.

The Associated Press News shares more on the developing story:

None of the security staff was injured, Duke Energy said.

The Oconee Nuclear Station has three nuclear reactors and started generating power 50 years ago on Lake Keowee.

The plant continues to operate safely, officials said.

“Duke Energy has comprehensive security plans and a well-trained security workforce in place. A vehicle entered an administrative gate, but was not able to access the plant due to our multiple layers of security,” Duke Energy said in statement.

Let us all hope this was nothing more than a crazy lunatic and nothing more severe.

The Oconee Nuclear Station is one of the largest in the country.

If someone were to sabotage the nuclear station, there is no telling the disaster it could cause.
