Is DeSantis Close To Dropping Out Next?

In an official press release, The Florida Republican Assembly issued a statement calling for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and return to Florida.

In an official statement the assembly stated “Governor Ron DeSantis was elected to serve the people of the State of Florida and to complete his four-year term.”

It goes on to state “DeSantis has been using his position as Governor to campaign for the office of the President of the United States, taking him away from his official duties and responsibilities to the citizens of Florida, frequently at taxpayer expense.”

The move by the Assembly comes as no surprise considering some polls have DeSantis behind Nikki Hayley in the presidential race.

Here’s what Voz Media added:

The Florida Republican Assembly issued a statement calling on Ron DeSantis to abandon his bid for President and return to Florida to govern the state.

The declaration states that the majority of its voters were “very happy” with the way DeSantis did his job as governor, and they ask him to desist from continuing with his campaign because they believe that Florida residents have become a secondary priority for the governor.

“Governor Ron DeSantis was elected to serve the people of the State of Florida and to complete his four-year term,” the statement said.

“DeSantis has been using his position as Governor to campaign for the office of the President of the United States, taking him away from his official duties and responsibilities to the citizens of Florida, frequently at taxpayer expense,” the Assembly adds.

The document indicates that the governor has not done well in his campaign and that on the contrary it has been received with a lack of enthusiasm by voters nationwide and that he has not gained any significant momentum, which is why the Republican Assembly considers that the best option is to resume his position as governor.

Per The Hill:

President Trump predicted Tuesday that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has long been considered his closest GOP challenger in the 2024 primary, will drop out of the race.
“Ron DeSanctimonious has the Poll numbers of a wounded bird falling from the sky,” Trump said on Truth Social. “I am up on him by 57 points, and going higher.”

“He has proven to be a terrible and inept candidate who even fought Social Security and MediCare,” he continued. “He will SOON be out of money and dropping out of the race for President. After having single handidly gotten him elected Governor, with no thanks or glory, it has been a beautiful thing to watch. Good luck Ron!”
DeSantis’s team pushed back against a similar claim from Trump in August, when the former president said he’d heard “rumors” DeSantis would drop out of the White House race to run for Senate.
