New Policy Prevents Government Weaponization Of IRS Thanks To GOP

Back in July of this year, it was reported that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) would be rolling back the policy that allowed IRS agents to enter taxpayers’ homes.

Thanks to a GOP probe into the IRS’ operations, the IRS will no longer be arriving unannounced at taxpayers’ houses to harass or intimidate people.

This is an excellent step in the right direction.

The IRS and other federal agencies have always had a problem with abusing power.

Now, the GOP is taking the fight to these agencies.

Take a look at the original Fox News article back in July:

“The growth in scam artists bombarding taxpayers has increased confusion about home visits by IRS revenue officers,” it added. “Sometimes scam artists appear at the door posing as IRS agents, creating confusion for not just the taxpayers living there but local law-enforcement.”

The IRS also said its agents “routinely faced hazards and uncertainty” in making the unannounced visits.

“We have the tools we need to successfully collect revenue without adding stress with unannounced visits,” Werfel said in a statement. “The only losers with this change in policy are scammers posing as the IRS.”

They “routinely faced hazards and uncertainty.”

Wow, who would have guessed that?

Let’s go to a person’s house uninvited, intimidate them into paying money, and then be surprised when they retaliate.

It shows the idiocracy and entitlement many of these federal agencies possess.

Rep. Jim Jordan, who was on the committee responsible for the probe, reposted the new Fox News article on X:

The current Fox News article highlights an event where an IRS agent abused his power and authority to intimidate a taxpayer:

An IRS agent purportedly introduced himself as “Bill Haus” to a woman only identified as a “Marion County, Ohio taxpayer” when coming to her home in April this year. After allowing him inside, he allegedly told her that she owed a substantial amount of money on an estate she owned.

“Prior to the visit, however, the taxpayer had not received any notice from the IRS of an outstanding balance on the estate,” the report said.

After the taxpayer showed documents disputing that she owed any money, the report said, “Agent ‘Haus’ conceded that the true purpose of his visit was not due to any issue with the decedent’s estate, rather Agent ‘Haus’ was at the taxpayer’s home because the decedent allegedly had several delinquent tax return filings.”

After calling her lawyer, the lawyer insisted the agent leave.

This is what he had to say:

“Agent ‘Haus’ responded aggressively, insisting, ‘I am an IRS agent, I can be at and go into anyone’s house at any time I want to be.’ At the end of his unannounced visit, Agent ‘Haus’ told the taxpayer he would mail her paperwork for her to execute and threatened that she would have exactly one week to satisfy the remaining balance or he would freeze all her assets and put a lien on her house,” the report said.

Such disgraceful behavior by the IRS agent.

This is the perfect example of an abuse of power by government entities.

Power is easily corrupt.

The more the government gives to federal agencies, the more cases of corruption you will see.
