FACT-CHECK: Did Vladimir Putin Suffer Cardiac Arrest?

Conflicting reports have come out claiming that Russian president Vladimir Putin has suffered cardiac arrest.

According to several European news outlets, Putin was found on the floor of his bedroom on Sunday.

The reports claim that his security team entered the room to check on him at 9:05pm after hearing a noise.

From there, doctors allegedly performed resuscitation.

Naturally, this would be a huge story if true, considering the implications it would have on the war between Russia and Ukraine.

So far, the story has yet to be completely verified.

That hasn’t stopped social media from picking it up and running with it though.

We’ll keep you posted on anything new on this one.

Here’s the story from Austraia’s Sky News:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest following months of speculation over his health.

General SVR, an organization claiming to have classified intel on Kremlin activities from retired and active intelligence officers, shared its allegations to social media.

The claims became international news after British outlets The Mirror, The Express and GB News published the information, sparking discussions over the controversial leader’s longevity.

The insider group said Putin was found lying on the floor of his bedroom next to overturned food and drinks about 9.05pm on Sunday.

MSN also provided details on the as of yet unverified report:

A Telegram Channel believed to be run by a former Kremlin insider reported that incident saying the Russian leader was found by guards on the floor of the bedroom “lying on the floor, rolling his eyes.”

Doctors were reportedly called immediately and they later diagnosed the 71-year-old as having suffered a “cardiac arrest.”

Putin was then moved to a special medical facility built in the apartment where he underwent intensive care, the source claims.

The unverified report comes following persistent speculation surrounding Putin’s health amid rumours of a long-hidden medical condition.

Speculation on Putin’s health has been common for a while now, though that’s not a big surprise considering his age and position.

Still, many are skeptical to say the least.
