Iran Foreign Minister Threatens Action Against Israel

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian warned on Monday that “preemptive action” against Israel is expected soon as the country continues bombarding Gaza.

The warning comes a few days after a video of Amirabdollahian meeting Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar over the weekend surfaced on social media.

This is an interesting development because the Iranian government denied having anything to do with the massacre of over 1,300 Israelis that was orchestrated by Hamas on October 7.

On Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told a group of students in Tehran that “no one can stop” global Islamist forces if Israel keeps up its bombardment of Hamas targets in Gaza.

Here’s a portion of what was reported on Fox News:

“Leaders of the Resistance will not allow the Zionist regime to take any action in Gaza,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on state TV Monday, according to Reuters’s translation. “All options are open, and we cannot be indifferent to the war crimes committed against the people of Gaza.”

“The resistance front is capable of waging a long-term war with the enemy [Israel]… in the coming hours, we can expect a preemptive action by the resistance front,” he added.

Earlier Monday, Iranian state media reported that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call that, “There is a possibility of the conflict between Israel and Palestinians expanding to other fronts.”

Raisi reportedly said Iranian foreign policy supports the Palestinians, but “resistance” groups make their own independent decisions, according to Reuters.

The Iranian government has been talking out of both sides of its mouth since Hamas attacked Israel.

They have publicly denied having any involvement in the attack, but they have celebrated the death of thousands of civilians.

They are now trying to use the fact that Israel is defending itself as an excuse to attack the country.

Despite the comments from Amirabdollahian and Khamenei, the Biden administration is currently considering sending aid to Palestine.

While members of the progressive Squad have been vocal in their support of Palestine, Republicans have been the grownups in the room and they’ve advised Biden against sending aid to Gaza because it will end up in the hands of Hamas.

More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed since the attack. At least 199 others, including children, were captured by Hamas and taken into Gaza.

If the Biden administration gives Palestine aid, expect the numbers to grow quickly.
