New Democrat Announces He Will Challenge Biden In Democratic Primary

Since Robert f. Kennedy Jr. has decided to run as an Independent, Biden has faced no competition until now.

Cenk Uygur a popular progressive political commentator announced on Wednesday he is throwing his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidency.

Uyghur stated “Biden is not going to win…It should not have been me, it should have been somebody else, but unfortunately it was not anyone else. There’s only four months left.”

He continued “We must change course. He has at best a 10 percent chance of winning. I’m running as a proxy. I am running to win. But I am also running as a proxy for any other candidate.”

Here’s what Yahoo News reported:

Cenk Uygur has long pushed the Democratic Party to fight harder for progressive policies.

Cenk Uygur, a popular progressive YouTube personality who is currently ineligible to serve as president, nonetheless confirmed his decision on Wednesday to mount a long-shot Democratic primary challenge against President Joe Biden.

Uygur told Semafor, which first reported the news of his run, that he hopes to persuade Biden not to proceed with his bid for a second term, on the grounds that Biden would lose to former President Donald Trump.

“I’m going to do whatever I can to help him decide that this is not the right path,” he told Semagor. “If he retires now, he’s a hero: He beat Trump, he did a good job of being a steward of the economy. If he doesn’t, he loses to Trump, and he’s the villain of the story.”

Per Forbes:

Cenk Uygur, the creator of the progressive news commentary show The Young Turks, announced Wednesday he’s running for president as a Democrat in a long shot effort of defeating President Joe Biden, whom Uygur said in an announcement would lose the presidential election.

Uygur, who called himself a “break glass in case of emergency” candidate, said Biden needs to quit the presidential race because he “has at best a 10% chance of winning” against former President Donald Trump.
Uygur is running as a “proxy” candidate for Democratic challengers to Biden, saying the sitting president would be a villain if he continues to run for president and loses.
