Happening Now: Israel Declares War On Hamas After Surprise Attack


The nation of Israel has declared war against the terrorist group Hamas.

Hours after the terror group Hamas launched close to 5,000 rockets into Israel and militants seized several IDF tanks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared the nation of Israel is at war.

In an emergency alert, Netanyahu stated Israel s at war and those who have attacked Israel will pay the ultimate price.

Netanyahu declared “Citizens of Israel, we are at war. Not an operation, not a round [of fighting,] at war! This morning Hamas initiated a murderous surprise attack against the state of Israel and its citizens.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel “is at war” after Hamas launched a devastating surprise attack on the country on Saturday, and vowed to exact an “unprecedented price” from the terror group.

“Citizens of Israel, we are at war. Not an operation, not a round [of fighting,] at war! This morning Hamas initiated a murderous surprise attack against the state of Israel and its citizens,” Netanyahu said in his filmed statement in Hebrew.

The statement, which appeared to have been filmed at the Israel Defense Forces headquarters in Tel Aviv, was posted at around 11 a.m., several hours into the fighting that erupted after Hamas fired thousands of rockets into Israel and dozens of gunmen crossed the border with the Gaza Strip and invaded multiple Israeli towns and communities.

At least 40 Israelis were confirmed killed and hundreds wounded by early afternoon. Additional casualties were reported from the Gaza border communities, where gun battles still raged between the IDF and terrorists who were seen roaming freely in several places.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise and unprecedented land, sea and air attack on Israel, which its leader said included firing about 5,000 rockets.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded saying the country was at war with Hamas and that reservists would be called up to boost the armed forces. “The enemy will pay a price it has never known before,” he said.
At least 22 Israelis have been killed, health officials said. Palestinian media reported six had died in the Gaza Strip.
