Following the ouster of Kevin McCarthy, all eyes are on President Trump.
The former President has long been touted as a potential candidate for Speaker of the House, and, once upon a time, it was even posited as a path for President Trump to reclaim the Oval Office after the botched 2020 election.
Now that McCarthy is no longer Speaker, calls for President Trump to become the next House Speaker are once again growing.
Congressman Troy E. Nehls was the first to nominate the former President for House Speaker: “Kevin McCarthy will NOT be running again as Speaker. I nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the House.”

Collin Rugg provided the video statement from President Trump and quoted the former leader of the free world.
“All I can say is we’ll do whatever’s best for the country and for the Republican Party. A lot of people have asked me about it… My focus is totally on [the election]. If I can help them during the process, I would do it,” Trump told the media.
To sum it up, that’s a resounding ‘maybe’ from the 45th President—he might just do it and I don’t see why not.
It certainly wouldn’t harm him on the legal front, quite the opposite, and it would be one of the quickest, not to mention sweetest, ways of impeaching Biden.
JUST IN: Donald Trump confirms from the New York courthouse that he has been asked about becoming the House Speaker, says he would do it.
That would be epic 🔥

Fox News didn’t miss the story:
The next speaker does not have to be a current sitting member in the House, but every speaker in U.S. history has been.
It’s not the first time Trump has been floated as a nominee for speakership, either.
In January, as McCarthy struggled to garner enough votes to secure his speakership, Gaetz cast a ballot for Trump.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene threw her support behind the 45th President: “I’m supporting President Donald J. Trump to be the next Speaker of the House! He has a proven four year record of putting America First and implementing the policies the American people want. President Trump is the man for the job!”

Rep. Jim Jordan, a candidate for the Speakership himself, likewise voiced support for President Trump as House Speaker. “He’d be great… I want him at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue but if he wants to be Speaker, that’s fine too,” Jordan told Sean Hannity.
🚨🚨🚨Hannity says Donald Trump has been contacted about possibly being an “interim Speaker of the House,” Jim Jordan reacts LIVE:

Newsweek provided a counter-perspective:
While theoretically possible, it is unlikely that Trump will receive enough support overall to be elected House Speaker.
Trump, who is running for president in 2024, has also previously stated that he is not interested in the position.
“No, it’s not something I want to do. I want to look at what’s happening, and then we’re going to be doing something else. No, it’s not something I would be interested in,” Trump said in an interview in March 2022.
