Trump Calls For Rep. Bowman To Be Jailed For Pulling Firearm

Trump stated “Will Congressman Jamal Bowman be prosecuted and imprisoned for very dangerously pulling and setting off the main fire alarm system in order to stop a Congressional vote that was going on in D.C.”

He continued “His egregious act is covered on tape, a horrible display of nerve and criminality. It was a very dangerous “Obstruction of an Official Proceeding,” the same as used against our J-6 prisoners.”

The 45th President concluded his statement by saying in all caps “HE MUST SUFFER THEIR SAME FATE. WHEN WILL HIS TRIAL BEGIN???”

Here’s Trump’s full statement:

The Federalist:

Former President Trump said Sunday that Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) should be jailed for the “egregious act” of pulling the fire alarm Saturday ahead of the House’s vote on a stopgap measure to keep the government open past the midnight deadline.

“Will Congressman Jamal Bowman be prosecuted and imprisoned for very dangerously pulling and setting off the main fire alarm system in order to stop a Congressional vote that was going on in D.C.,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Sunday. “His egregious act is covered on tape, a horrible display of nerve and criminality.”

Trump’s post comes after Bowman a day earlier acknowledged he triggered a fire alarm Saturday in the Cannon House Office Building, forcing the building to evacuate. Bowman claimed it was an accident as he rushed to vote on a last-minute bipartisan stopgap funding bill rolled out by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) earlier in the day.

“Today, as I was rushing to make a vote, I came to a door that is usually open for votes but today would not open. I am embarrassed to admit that I activated the fire alarm, mistakenly thinking it would open the door. I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this caused.”

Washington Examiner:

Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), secretary of the House Republican Conference, has circulated a resolution to censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) after he pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building in what many believe was an effort to delay a vote on the continuing resolution put forward by Republicans to keep the government funded.

The censure would remove Bowman from all of his committee assignments, which include the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, as well as precipitate an Ethics Committee investigation into his actions, according to the text obtained by the Washington Examiner’s Reese Gorman.

“The actions of Representative Bowman forced the evacuation of the Cannon House Office Building and disrupted the work of the Congress as a vote was underway on the floor of the House,” McClain’s resolution said. “The interruption of official proceedings of Congress by pulling a fire alarm was a theatrical attempt to cause panic, therefore endangering the safety and well-being of Members of the House, of staff, and members of the public on the Capitol grounds.”

The Washington Examiner reported on Saturday that McClain had drafted a motion to censure Bowman with Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL), Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV), and Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) serving as co-sponsors.
