Matt Gaetz Will File Motion To Vacate The Chair

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has been hanging by a thread since taking the job.

He’s continually made it clear that, in his eyes, America does not come first.

This is something that has sparked a year-long feud with Matt Gaetz.

Gaetz is always the first person to call McCarthy out for his plethora of lies and deceit.

It appears that feud is about to hit another level, following McCarthy’s side deal with democrats.

Gaetz spoke to CNN, where he made it clear that he intends to file a motion for McCarthy to forfeit the chair.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, D-Calif., could face an untimely end to his role as speaker after a hardline critic within his own party Sunday called for a vote to oust him following the passage of a stopgap funding bill that drew more support from Democrats than Republicans.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 335-91 to adopt a 45-day stopgap measure hours before funding for federal agencies was set to expire. The Democrat-led Senate later approved the same bill with bipartisan support and sent it to President Joe Biden to sign into law.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., told CNN on Sunday he would file a “motion to vacate,” a call for a vote to remove McCarthy as speaker.

“If at this time next week Kevin McCarthy is still speaker of the House, it will be because Democrats bailed him out,” Gaetz said in an interview on ABC. “I am relentless and I will continue to pursue this objective.”

Here’s the latest from the New York Post:

Chief GOP agitator Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) announced Sunday his intent to file a motion to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.)

Gaetz has long been dangling the motion to vacate the motion over McCarthy’s head and indicated the breaking point was the speaker’s recent move to avert a government shutdown Saturday.

“I do intend to file a motion to vacate against speaker McCarthy this week,” Gaetz told CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday.

“This agreement that he made with Democrats to really blow past a lot of the spending guardrails we’d set up is a last straw,” the right-wing firebrand continued.

“Overnight, I learned that Kevin McCarthy had a secret deal with Democrats on Ukraine. So as he was baiting Republicans to vote for a continuing resolution without Ukraine money… then turns around and makes a secret deal.”
