A Spanish High Court has ruled tech guru John McAfee died by “suicide.”
McAfee who became an iconic name in the tech world after he created the world’s first commercial ani-virus software, was found dead in his prison cell on June 23, 2021.
The tech guru’s death occurred on the same day he was supposed to be extradited back to the United States to face tax evasion charges.
There’s a twist in the story however, months before he was found dead inside his prison cell McAfee posted message on his Twitter account where he stated he would never kill himself.
McAfee wrote “I am content in here. I have friends. The food is good. All is well. Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine.”

Here’s what The New York Post reported:
A Spanish court has ruled John McAfee died by suicide, a court document seen by Reuters showed on Friday, bringing to a close a probe about the death of the software entrepreneur.
McAfee, who launched the world’s first commercial anti-virus software in 1987, was found dead, aged 75, on June 23, 2021, in his prison cell a few hours after Spain’s high court authorized his extradition to the United States on tax evasion charges.
The British-American tech mogul had been in the Barcelona-area Brians 2 jail for eight months following his arrest after years on the run from U.S. authorities.
Although the autopsy had already determined he died by suicide, his family had filed an appeal asking for a more in-depth investigation into his death.
His body has been in a Barcelona morgue, waiting for the court process to be resolved.
“There is not a single element of suspicion, of a charge against a third party, of criminal behavior,” said the ruling, dated July 24 but released on Friday.
McAfee even went further and stated that the U.S. Government was going after him and even got a tattoo that read “Whackd.”
McAfee went on to write “Getting subtle messages from U.S. officials saying, in effect: “We’re coming for you McAfee! We’re going to kill yourself”. I got a tattoo today just in case. If I suicide myself, I didn’t. I was whackd. Check my right arm.”

Per The Daily Mail:
A court in Spain has ruled tech tycoon John McAfee died by suicide, ending a probe into the software entrepreneur’s 2021 jailhouse death.
The autopsy had already determined he died by suicide but his ex-wife Janice had demanded an investigation. McAfee himself had tweeted two years before his death: ‘If I suicide myself, I didn’t. I was whackd.’
A copy of the ruling shown to Reuters said: ‘There is not a single element of suspicion, of a charge against a third party, of criminal behavior.’
