Democrat Representative Jamaal Bowman of New York was caught on camera pulling a fire alarm inside the Cannon building at the Capitol.
Capitol Police identified Bowman as the suspect who pulled the fire alarm after he was seen on camera reaching his arm out towards a fire alarm located in the Cannon House building.
Bowman has been questioned by the Capitol Police’s investigation unit but no arrest has been made yet.
Rep. Bowman reportedly pulled the fire alarm just moments before the House was set to vote on a spending bill.

Progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., pulled a fire alarm in one of the House of Representatives’ three office buildings amid a chaotic morning as lawmakers scrambled to avert a government shutdown.
Committee Chair Bryan Steil, R-Wis., said the matter is being investigated now. Sources told Fox News and Fox News Digital that Bowman is being questioned by the Capitol Police’s criminal investigation unit.
“Rep. Jamal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning. An investigation into why it was pulled is underway,” Steil said in a statement.

“Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote,” a spokesman for Bowman said. “The Congressman regrets any confusion.”

U.S. Capitol Police confirmed in a statement that a fire alarm caused an evacuation of the Cannon office building at 12:05 p.m. Eastern time. The building was evacuated while Capitol police officers checked it, and the building was reopened after it was determined that there was no threat.
“An investigation into what happened and why continues,” the statement said.
