Football Coach Dies After Collapsing During Game


A junior high football coach from Texas died after collapsing while coaching a game.

Multiple news outlets have reported coach Marco Contreras, 47, collapsed last Friday night while coaching his team against Tuloso-Midway.

Shortly after Contreas collapsed emergency crews attempted to resuscitate him but were unable to bring him back to life.

Kingsville Independent School District released a statement regarding Contreas’ death and wrote “Our condolences pour out to the family of our beloved coach, Marco Contreras. Coach Contreras will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.”

Contreas’ cause of death has yet to be determined.

A junior high school football coach in Texas has died after reportedly collapsing during a game.

According to multiple reports, Kingsville Independent School District coach Marco Contreras collapsed on the field during his team’s game Friday night against Tuloso-Midway.

Emergency crews worked to resuscitate him, but Contreras died a short time later.

“Our condolences pour out to the family of our beloved coach, Marco Contreras,” school officials shared. “Coach Contreras will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.”

Contreras was reportedly in his late 40s, but there was no immediate word given about his cause of death.

Kingsville school officials said Friday’s game will now be played on Saturday with donations made available to the Contreras family.

“In a time of sorrow, it is often comforting to come together as a community and participate in something we all love to do. Therefore, our coaches and football team have decided to play the football game,” school officials said.

A middle school football coach for the Kingsville Independent School District in Texas died suddenly after collapsing during a game Sept. 22, according to AZ Family.

Taking on Tuloso-Midway, Gillett Middle School coach Marco Contreras collapsed while on the field, according to AZ Family. He was quickly tended to, but first responders were reportedly unable to revive him. Contreras was then taken to a local hospital, where he was reportedly pronounced dead.

“Our condolences pour out to the family of our beloved coach, Marco Contreras,” school officials said in a statement. “Coach Contreras will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.”
