According to reports, diplomatic relations between India and Canada have soured this month.
CNN provides some background detail:
An explosive allegation from Canada that the Indian government may have been behind the assassination of a Sikh separatist activist on Canadian soil has triggered a huge diplomatic row and sent relations between the two plummeting.
ADVERTISEMENTIt all started on Monday, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed he has credible information linking India to the killing of prominent Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Canada’s allegation outraged India, which has vehemently denied the claim, calling it “absurd and motivated.”
Both Canada and India acted swiftly to expel senior diplomats in reciprocal moves earlier this week. And on Thursday, India’s foreign ministry responded by temporarily suspending visa services for Canadian citizens over what it said are “security threats” against diplomats in Canada.
Trudeau on Thursday called on India to “work with” Canada and “allow justice to follow its course.”
Experts say the falling out raises the prospect of an unprecedented rift between two key partners of the United States, and puts other major Western countries in an uncomfortable position.

The G20 summit took place in India and interactions between Justin Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were reportedly ‘testy.’
According to the Hindustan Times, Trudeau did skip the G20 dinner.
Per Hindustan Times:
Trudeau skipped the President of India’s reception dinner, which was held for G20 guests and leaders. Even the Prime Minister’s office refused to provide a reason for Trudeau missing the dinner.
Trudeau also skipped attending the launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance during the G20 Summit. Launched by PM Modi, US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio, Argentina’s Alberto Fernández, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni; the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) is an initiative which aims to accelerate the worldwide adoption of biofuels by promoting technological advancements, increasing the use of sustainable biofuels, and establishing robust standards and certification processes through the active involvement of a wide range of stakeholders.
Trudeau’s aircraft suffered a technical snag after the G20 summit which led to him, along with the Canadian delegation, to stay for two more days in India.
Yet, Trudeau chose to stay in his room at the Lalit Hotel in New Delhi after his Airbus plane developed a snag. He did not have any engagement with the Indian government on Monday.
The ministry of external affairs confirmed that they had received no request for any other official engagements and the office of the minister of state who was assigned to receive Trudeau, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, also confirmed that his duty was simply to receive the Canadian PM at the airport on his arrival. There was also no indication of any engagements at the local high commission either.
Hindustan Times reported on Vohra’s claims that Trudeau missed the G20 dinner because he was high on cocaine.

Justin Trudeau’s office denounced the claims as ‘absolutely false.’
Toronto Sun writes:
The Prime Minister’s Office has dismissed comments from a former Indian diplomat, who says there is a “credible rumour” that Justin Trudeau’s plane “was full of cocaine” during the recent G20 meeting in New Delhi.
Deepak Vohra, a former Indian ambassador to Sudan, made the accusations Monday on Indian television.
In a statement, the PMO denied the unsubstantiated claim.
“This (is) absolutely false and a troubling example of how disinformation can make its way into media reporting.”
Vohra, meanwhile, criticized Trudeau for having little knowledge of international relations and said he behaves like a small child.
“When Justin Trudeau came to India for the G20 this month, his plane was full of cocaine,” Vohra said during a debate show hosted by journalist Deepak Chaurasia on Zee News. “He did not come out of his room for two days.”
Vohra alleged police sniffer dogs discovered cocaine on Trudeau’s plane during the intergovernmental forum in early September.
