UNREAL: New AIDS Memorial Sculpture Looks Like a Giant Puckered Butthole

I thought this was a prank when I first saw it.

HAD TO BE fake, right?

Or satire from The Babylon Bee?

Turns out truth is stranger than Fiction and this is (sadly) or (hilariously) true!

A brand new contemporary art AIDS Memorial Sculpture has just been revealed….and….it looks like a giant puckered up anus.

For a disease most famously spread through gay sex, perhaps not the best choice?

And yes, those ARE the stats:

Hilarious:

I loved this one — Today in crap contemporary art:

Which reminds me of one of my favorite Norm Macdonald Weekend Update jokes:

And yes I will in fact take any excuse I can find to post a Norm Macdonald clip.

Local News Channel 3 reports the “art” cost upwards of $500,000:

A proposed AIDS memorial sculpture in Palm Springs is at the center of a heated debate with its design sparking concerns in the community. The controversial sculpture, meant to honor those who lost their lives to HIV and AIDS, is facing scrutiny for its abstract design and perceived inappropriate connotations.

The sculpture, standing at nine feet tall, features a round limestone structure with concentric carved circles, symbolizing the diverse impact of AIDS on the community. Its design is intended to evoke feelings of connection, reflection, and hope. However, not everyone is on board with this artistic vision.

“It’s really strained. I mean, it’s almost like a piece of art looking for a purpose, instead of the other way around. It could be about anything, and as a consequence, it’s kind of about nothing,” Clay Sales said.

In addition to concerns about the abstract nature of the sculpture, some residents have raised eyebrows over its perceived resemblance to certain body parts.

“The backside of the proposed memorial looks like a graphic depiction of the backside of a human being,” Gene Brake said.

The memorial is being funded privately with an expected cost of approximately $500,000. It is planned for installation in the Downtown Park near the Marilyn Monroe statue. However, fears persist that if the design remains unchanged, it could become a target for ridicule on social media and elsewhere.

“I can just visualize the whole slew of potential social media posts, making fun of something that is so important to our community,” Brake said.

Wow, $500,000 doesn’t buy what it used to I guess!

You can watch the report here:

From The National Pulse:

From one side, the $500,000 memorial looks like a generic, donut-like modernist sculpture engraved with a swirling pattern – but from the other side it resembles an anus.

“The backside of the proposed memorial looks like a graphic depiction of the backside of a human being,” said local activist Gene Brake.

“That’s definitely a butthole,” remarked one social media user.

While HIV and AIDS can be contracted through vaginal sex and needle-sharing, they are most commonly contracted through male-on-male anal sex, with gay and bisexual men accounting for a grossly disproportionate share of the infected.

The comments are hilarious:

It’s not the only terrible memorial we’ve seen recently….

Wait a minute….I think I’m getting an idea here…….

Just relocate the two statues so they are next to each other and problem solved?

Why Does The New MLK “Embrace” Statue Look Like A Giant _____?

Oh my…

Look, this is one of those articles I’m not going to tell you what I think, I’m just going to show you what a lot of other people think and show you pictures and video for yourself and let YOU decide.

Let’s start off with the background.

A giant bronze statue was commissioned in Boston to honor the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nice, right?

Unfortunately, sometimes things sound better on paper than they do when finished.

The idea for the statue was to honor this famous photo:

Unfortunately, they decided to cut off the heads and the result is, well, you decide…

When it’s being described as “veiny” that’s when I think you’ve got some problems:

🍆

Now, it could just be a bad angle, so let’s watch the full video:

Yikes, not much better….

I feel like we definitely need to tune in and get a “not White person” opinion here for full and balanced reporting:

This is probably the most favorable angle:

Oh my:

Is it pornographic?

Opinions seem to vary depending on the angle you look at.

It’s either a giant rooster or a person’s head between two legs.

Either way, I think the quote from above was “aesthetically unpleasant”:

Giant turd?

It’s a giant something…

Cutting off the heads seems to have been a poor choice:

Others have pointed out it has the Masonic “G” from the view above:

From Fox News:

Fox35 reports:

Annual tributes and commemorations of the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. began nationwide Friday and included the unveiling of a statue in Boston.

The 20-foot-high bronze sculpture called “The Embrace” is said to be one of the country’s largest memorials dedicated to racial equity.

When looking at the sculpture, you’ll see four intertwined arms — inspired by a photo of the civil rights leader and his wife, Coretta Scott King, when they learned he had won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

King first met his wife in Boston in the early 1950s, when he was a doctoral student in theology at Boston University and she was studying at the New England Conservatory of Music.

“My parents’ time in Boston is often a forgotten part of their history – and the history of the movement they helped inspire,” said Martin Luther King, III in a press release. “The Embrace is a commemoration of their relationship and journey and represents the meaningful role Boston served in our history.”

So sad that this will be the legacy:
