President Trump Attacked For Abortion Comments

During President Trump’s interview on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press,” he described Florida’s 6-week abortion ban as a “terrible thing.”

President Trump has taken a more moderate stance on the abortion issue.

He wishes to broker some understanding between Republicans and Democrats and figure out a better time limit for abortions.

These comments have left President Trump open to criticism from Republicans and Democrats.

More from Fox News:

Former President Donald Trump is facing increased scrutiny for calling Florida’s six-week abortion ban “a terrible thing,” with more big names joining the chorus of those condemning him.

“It’s never a ‘terrible thing’ to protect innocent life. I’m proud of the fetal heartbeat bill the Iowa legislature passed and I signed in 2018 and again earlier this year,” Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds wrote in a Wednesday post on X.

And furthermore:

“I mean, ‘DeSanctus’ [DeSantis] is willing to sign a five-week and six-week ban,” Trump said. “I think what he did is a terrible thing and a terrible mistake.”

The comments sparked widespread backlash from conservatives, who took to social media to blast the former president, and question his comments considering his previously expressed pro-life stances.

Now for some of the Twitter backlash:

Here is what President Trump has said in response to the criticism.

Let’s see what the Associated Press has to say before I give my opinions:

Speaking to an Iowa radio station on Monday, DeSantis said he was proud to have signed the Florida legislation, which he called “noble and just.”

“I don’t know how you can even make the claim that you’re somehow pro-life if you’re criticizing states for enacting pro-life protections for babies,” DeSantis told Radio Iowa.

He also criticized Trump’s statement that he would work with both sides regarding abortion policy, warning, “I think all pro-lifers should know that he’s preparing to sell you out.”

At a campaign stop in Mason City, Iowa, on Monday, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina mentioned other candidates who oppose a national abortion ban but specifically accused Trump of retreating on the issue.

“Frankly, those pro-life folks that we really want to stand with us are not standing,” he told more than 80 people in a church meeting room. “President Trump said he would negotiate with Democrats and walked back away from where I believe we need to be, which is a 15-week limit on the federal level.”

Following Sunday’s interview, the country’s largest anti-abortion organization, which backs a national ban on abortions at 15 weeks of pregnancy, quickly released a statement saying anything less restrictive “makes no sense.”

“We’re at a moment where we need a human rights advocate, someone who is dedicated to saving the lives of children and serving mothers in need. Every single candidate should be clear on how they plan to do that,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.

Ok folks, let me give my opinion.

Abortion has become an extremely hot topic in America.

Many Republicans are trying to pass laws that outright ban it, while many Democrats are trying to pass bills that allow all kinds of abortion.

President Trump understands the deep divide this is causing the country and that a compromise needs to be found.

President Trump is pro-life; don’t get that wrong.

However, he knows the importance of keeping this country together.

Something Democrats don’t seem to care about.

Now, I also understand the frustration that some conservatives feel.

I want a world where abortions are entirely outlawed and don’t happen.

And here’s the other thing.

Maybe it’s best that abortion issues stay on the State level, not the federal level.

That way, the states have more power to decide what is best for them.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments.

I’m curious to know.
