Tim Ballard Says He’s “Very Serious” About Taking Mitt Romney’s Senate Seat

Tim Ballard who is the former Homeland Security Agent on which the movie Sound of Freedom is based on has announced that he’s very serious about replacing Senator Mitt Romney of Utah.

Romney earlier in the week announced that he’s not running next election but is rather retiring.

While sitting down with political commentator Sean Spicer, Ballard shared that “Starting several weeks ago, I’ve been asked by a lot of very influential people… to throw in.”

When Spicer asked Ballard if he would like to take Romney’s seat, Ballard replied “That’s the very seat that I was asked to look at weeks ago… I was very seriously considering it then and I’ll be honest now even more so.”

Tim Ballard, the ex-Department of Homeland Security agent featured in the film “Sound of Freedom,” is mulling a run for Senate in Utah to replace the retiring Republican Sen. Mitt Romney.

“Starting several weeks ago, I’ve been asked by a lot of very influential people… to throw in,” Ballard told Sean Spicer on Newsmax, prompting him to clarify whether he would seek Romney’s seat. “That’s the very seat that I was asked to look at weeks ago… I was very seriously considering it then and I’ll be honest now even more so.”

Romney confirmed this week that he would not seek reelection in 2024 and called for a “new generation of leaders.” At least one Republican, Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs, has already entered the race.

Ballard indicated that he had been mulling the move even before Romney confirmed he would not run again.

Ballard told Sean Spicer on ‘The Sean Spicer Show’ this week in the video first obtained by DailyMail.com that he was asked ‘several weeks ago’ to look at running for the seat by ‘very influential people.’
