Border Patrol Drops Off Hundreds of Migrants on San Diego Street, “You’re Free”

According to a report by Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released hundreds of illegal migrants on a San Diego street.

“Watch as Border Patrol mass releases hundreds of illegal migrants to a city street in San Diego as CBP facilities are overcrowded,” Melugin wrote.

The reporter noted an exchange between one migrant and a CBP agent.

“You’re free to go on and do whatever you want. You’re free,” the CBP agent tells one migrant.

“Ok, it’s no problem if I go to Chicago?” the migrant asked.

“You can do whatever you want. You’re free,” the CBP agent responded.

Melugin noted that three unmarked Border Patrol buses dropped off “several hundred illegal immigrants to city streets and sidewalks in San Diego across from a transit terminal.”

“People were on this bus from as far away as China and Pakistan,” Melugin said.

“Keep in mind these buses are not from Texas. They’re not Greg Abbott’s buses. These are the Biden administration’s buses. This is Border Patrol mass releasing people,” he noted.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports:

Hundreds of migrants who had been waiting between layers of border fencing after entering the United States from Tijuana have since been processed by federal authorities, with many migrants then being dropped off by U.S. Border Patrol agents at transit centers throughout San Diego County.

The mass drop-offs, which began Wednesday and continued Thursday, overwhelmed nonprofit agencies who were scrambling to provide migrants with basic resources such as food and clothing, as well as shelter in hotel rooms and with host families.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection temporarily closed the PedWest border crossing Thursday morning, saying its officers were needed to assist Border Patrol in processing the increase in migrants arriving at the border in recent days.

The agency was screening migrants at either the agency’s soft-sided facility at Brown Field or other stations — a process that includes giving them notices to appear in immigration court — before busing many of them to transit centers across the county.

“CBP is working according to plan and as part of our standard processes to quickly decompress the areas along the Southwest border, and safely and efficiently screen and process migrants to place them in immigration enforcement proceedings consistent with our laws,” CBP said in a statement.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said U.S. Homeland Security Security Alejandro Mayorkas’ model is for “death, despair, and an end to sovereignty in America.”

“Mayorkas should be removed from office and the House should restrict funding until we force change,” Roy added.
