According to his death certificate, Reubens who was best known as pee-wee Herman died from hypoxic respiratory failure.

At the time of his death, Reuben was battling two types of cancer.

His primary cancer was acute myelogenous leukemia and his secondary was metastatic lung cancer.

Paul Reubens’ cause of death has been revealed a month after his death at age 70.

The actor, best known for his Pee-wee Herman character, died as a result of acute hypoxic respiratory failure, according to his death certificate obtained by The Post.

According to Healthline, the condition occurs “when your lungs cannot release enough oxygen into your blood, which prevents your organs from properly functioning.”

The condition also occurs “if your lungs cannot remove carbon dioxide from your blood,” the outlet adds.

At the time of his death, Reubens was also battling two types of cancer.

According to the outlet, his primary cancer battle was listed as acute myelogenous leukemia and was described as a sequential underlying cause.

Paul Reubens’ cause of death has been revealed a little more than month after the actor died at age 70 on July 30.

Reubens, who was best known for playing the beloved children’s character Pee-wee Herman, died due to acute myelogenous leukemia, his representative confirmed to Fox News Digital.

According to the National Cancer Institute, acute myelogenous leukemia is a “cancer of the blood and bone marrow” and it is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults.

In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital after the comedian’s death, it was revealed that Reubens had privately battled cancer for years.

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” his longtime rep said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

In 2002, Herman was charged with having in his possession child pornography but later prosecutors dropped the charges to convict Reuben with an obscenity charge which is a misdemeanor.
