Zelensky Won’t Hold Election Unless U.S. and EU Help Pay

Zelensky is getting greedy as the U.S. funnels increasingly more money into Ukraine.

In an interview posted by the president’s office, Zelesnky calls for more aid to help support an election during wartime.

Forget Maui and the rest of our country’s infrastructure desperately needing financial aid!

Ukraine NEEDS more money for this election…

So ridiculous.

Breitbart has more on the story:

In an interview published by the president’s office on Sunday evening, Zelensky said that he would be willing to hold elections despite the ongoing martial law amid the war with Russia, so long as the U.S. and EU bankroll the voting process.

The Ukrainian leader said that elections during peacetime typically cost around 5 billion hryvnia ($135 million) but did not speculate as to how much more they would cost during a war, though presumably it would be much higher.

Zelensky said that he discussed the topic of funding for the 2024 elections with U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who has been one of the staunchest supporters of sending more aid to Ukraine on Capitol Hill.

“I told [Sen. Graham]: If the United States and Europe give us financial support… I’m sorry, I will not hold elections on credit, I will not take money from weapons and give it to elections either. But if you give me this financial support, if the parliamentarians realize that we need to do this, then let’s quickly change the legislation and, most importantly, let’s take risks together,”  Zelensky said.

“Observers should be in the trenches. I told him: observers must be sent to the frontline so that the elections are legitimate for us and for the whole world. And this is absolutely fair,” he added.

Zelensky, a former comedian who prior to becoming president actually portrayed a fictitious president on the television programme Servant of the People, was elected in 2019 with over 73 per cent of the vote on the backs of promises to cut down on corruption and normalising relations with Russia. However, this would not come to pass, with a hot war breaking out between the two countries last year after Russia launched an invasion in February.

The amount of money we have funneled into this war is ridiculous.

When are people going to wake up to the fact that we need to focus on ourselves first and foremost?

Now let’s take a look at the actual document from the Ukraine president’s website:

“We need every vote. We won’t be able to say for ourselves that this was a very democratic election. We need a legitimate choice. We need this choice to be made by society. So that it does not divide our people. We need the military to be able to vote. They are defending this democracy today, and not giving them this opportunity because of the war is unfair. I was against the elections only because of this issue,” the Head of State said, commenting on the possibility of organizing and holding elections under martial law.

The President also noted that the second aspect of the possible holding of elections during the war is the issue of the lack of funding. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had discussed this topic with American Republican politician Lindsey Graham.

“I told him: if the United States and Europe give us financial support… I’m sorry, I will not hold elections on credit, I will not take money from weapons and give it to elections either. But if you give me this financial support, if the parliamentarians realize that we need to do this, then let’s quickly change the legislation and, most importantly, let’s take risks together,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The Head of State also paid special attention to the organization of the work of polling stations and the presence of observers, including foreign ones.

What a gross use of power.

Zelesnky uses the guise of this war to hide his own corruption.

Trying to strong-arm his ‘allies’ into giving more money to support an election.
