David Scanlan, the Republican Secretary of State of New Hampshire, is considering barring Donald Trump from the 2024 election ballot.
Scanlan is apparently consulting with the state attorney general in order to determine whether or not the 14th Amendment would justify doing so.

The Boston Globe is reporting that New Hampshire is considering barring Trump from the ballot under the novel 14th Amendment argument. I have been a long critic of the theory. https://t.co/lGhv9je2a7 However, there is a good-faith argument over the theory and a challenge could…

If this isn’t what constitutes a RINO then I don’t know what does.
Breitbart had more to say about this stating:
New Hampshire attorney Bryant “Corky” Messner, whom Trump previously endorsed in New Hampshire’s 2020 U.S. Senate race, is apparently responsible for getting the idea on Scanlan’s radar. Messner recently announced plans to sue to ensure Scanlan enforces the Fourteenth Amendment against Trump.
So a RINO and a traitor working together.
Predictable.
Now more into the details.
The disqualification argument centers on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
This section stipulates that a public official cannot take up public office if they have participated in an insurrection or rebellion against the United States.
The argument that Trump fits those criteria has been floating around for a while now.
Even just last week, two legal scholars, a retired “conservative” federal judge in J. Michael Luttig, and a Harvard Law professor Emeritus Laurence Tribe, argued this case in an article published in The Atlantic:
“The disqualification clause operates independently of any such criminal proceedings and, indeed, also independently of impeachment proceedings and of congressional legislation,”
They wrote, and continued:
“The clause was designed to operate directly and immediately upon those who betray their oaths to the Constitution, whether by taking up arms to overturn our government or by waging war on our government by attempting to overturn a presidential election through a bloodless coup.”
Keep in mind that Tribe has previously stated that Trump should be impeached back when he took office and has peddled many theories to justify it.
But diving deeper into this specific case of New Hampshire possibly removing him from the ballot, a lawyer living in New Hampshire named Bryant Messner is apparently the one who put the idea in the previously mentioned Scanlan’s head.
Abcnews explains:
Messner first announced his plans on a local radio show, NH Today, on Tuesday morning.
He says he is still doing initial legal due diligence on the topic and finding a lawyer to bring the case. He plans to finance the legal challenge himself and through his own personal network.
New Hampshire’s Secretary of State Office confirmed to ABC News that Messner met with Secretary of State David Scanlan Friday to discuss Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
Many conservatives are justifiably up in arms about this.
Trump is currently by far and away the leading candidate for the Republican party and can’t seem to catch a break.
Not that it’s anything new for him, considering the past 8 years.
Here’s how some on Twitter are reacting to the news.

Talk about a misuse and a twisting of our beloved US Constitution! 😡 To use it for election interference is despicable and immoral! https://t.co/4yO04Hm78q

Trump has lost in New Hampshire the past two elections, though only by .3% in 2016 while he lost by around 7% in 2020.
The state hasn’t voted majority Republican in a presidential election since 2000 actually, so if this goes through it may not have a big impact on the election overall.
But regardless, it’s the fact that removing a candidate from the ballot is on the table at all that is the problem.
And in a state with a Republican governor and Secretary of State no less.
