Biden Called On To Declare ‘Climate Emergency’

As Joe Biden finally made his way to see the devastation caused by the fires in Maui, the demands for him to declare a ‘climate emergency’ are growing louder by the minute.

Let’s review the news to see how a “climate emergency” would help the Maui people.

Politico lays out the left’s argument that finally now, after a string of climate disasters, this is the right time for the climate emergency declaration:

As President Joe Biden prepares to visit Maui, the Hawaiian island devastated by the deadliest wildfire in U.S. modern history, lawmakers and climate groups are begging the White House to do more to prevent future climate-related disasters.

Their argument: If the latest environmental catastrophe won’t spur the president into action, what will?

The fires, likely sparked by the island’s electric utility and heightened by climate change impacts, swept through the Pacific paradise last week, killing at least 110 people and leaving the famed town of Lahaina smoldering in ruins. As survivors search for missing family members and friends, and a housing crisis unfolds amid the vast destruction, climate activists and members of Congress are urging Biden to declare a national emergency over climate change.

It isn’t the first time the White House has faced calls to take this step, but the ongoing crisis in Hawaii and a string of climate events this summer — including this weekend’s first-ever tropical storm warning for southern California — have intensified the appeals, building pressure on the president ahead of his scheduled trip to the island disaster site Monday.

The predicted huge loss of life – especially of children – plus the hard-to-look-at videos and pictures of the disaster areas seem to be inciting the climate emergency cry from the “green new deal” left.

So now we need to ask if this is really about the people of Maui.

Or, maybe this is all just another Democrat power grab?

From The Gateway Pundit:

Climate change activist groups and left wing members of Congress are using the fires in Maui to urge Joe Biden to declare a ‘national emergency’ over climate change.

These people don’t give a damn about the people of Hawaii. All they see is an opportunity to seize more power and control. What do you think happens if Biden declares a national emergency over climate change? Climate lockdowns? More restrictions on energy? More restrictions on freedom? All of the above and more?

As Rahm Emanuel once famously said, never let a crisis go to waste.

The Blaze reports more about the Dem’s “exploitation of tragedy”:

Biden may declare a ‘national climate emergency’ to further the Green New Deal by non-democratic means: ‘Just like COVID’.

Democrats have had trouble advancing the whole of their radical Green New Deal by democratic means, so they’re now calling upon President Joe Biden to invoke abstract threats and exploit real tragedies to get their way.

Proponents of the climate alarmist legislation that would see the state’s power grow further at the expense of the populace were not placated in the least by the green handouts resultant of last year’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” which authorized well over $600 billion in spending on so-called renewable energy and climate change initiatives.

One Twitter poster made a point about Biden and the Democrats needing this tragedy for control.

Another poster spent time connecting the string of tragedies back to the World Economic Forum.

And, if the power grab speculation wasn’t enough, the arrival of Hurricane Hilary, and hurricane season is providing another twist to the tale.

FEMA released this piece of alarming news on Sunday’s Face The Nation:

FEMA’s disaster fund could dry up within weeks and delay the federal response to natural disasters, the agency’s administrator warned Sunday.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell told “Face the Nation” that the agency is watching its disaster relief fund “very closely” ahead of hurricane season and that some recovery projects that are not life-saving measures could be delayed into the next fiscal year if funding falls short.

“Our estimates do still say that we may have a depletion of our fund — now it’s pushed into the middle of September,” Criswell said. “And as we get closer to that, I mean, this is a day-by-day monitoring of the situation.”

FEMA is almost out of cash. Could anyone really forget that it’s budget and continuing resolution season, too?

Finally, the US Oil & Gas Association made an interesting point about Biden and a climate emergency.

It would be hard to make up this stuff, folks.

The devastated people and communities of Maui need a lot of help, love, support, and prayers.

Will a climate emergency declaration really help them?
