Did Kid Rock Forgive Bud Light And End The “Buycott”?

Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser beer are cultural icons in America. From the Clydesdale horses to the Super Bowl commercials, seemingly all Americans know a “Bud” when they see one. Based on the billion dollar valuation of the company’s stock price alone, Americans were proud to be Bud drinkers.

And then, one day, Budweiser made a huge mistake. They let a woke, marketing millennial loose on the Bud Light social media platforms, and this was the result.

The backlash from the buying public was immediate and severe. Star of the advertisement, influencer Dylan Mulvaney, had to lock his Twitter account, and Americans started a full-on Bud Light “buycott.”

The New York Post showed videos of shelves full of Budweiser beer because Americans just weren’t buying Bud:

In fact, Bud Light sales (and reputation) dropped so far in such a short period of time that a Busch heir openly offered to buy it back in order to save it.

But perhaps one of the most fiery responses to the Bud Light disaster was from a favorite musician.

For lovers of both country music and rock and roll, Kid Rock plays a unique roll in the American music scene as he effortlessly straddles both worlds.

But in a world full of liberal, “woke” entertainers, Kid Rock (real name Bob Ritchie) has always made it abundantly clear that he is 100% Pro American values, traditions, and beliefs.

No one could forget the “statement” he made after the Bud Light/Dylan Mulvaney fiasco in the spring. Kid Rock was a man who didn’t need many words to make his point.

The working American public exploded with love in response to Kid Rock’s video. There was no question that Kid was speaking for the silent majority.

But now there’s a problem.

A new video and pictures of Kid Rock and Bud Light are sweeping the internet for a different reason, and it begs the question. Is the “buycott” of Bud Light over?

TMZ broke the story with this snarky comment:

Kid Rock seemingly can’t turn down the light, refreshing taste of a Bud Light — no matter who is on the can — sipping on a cold one only months after he obliterated cases of the beer with an AR-style rifle.

Once again, the public responded quickly and explosively to the Kid Rock news.

Wow, treason is a powerful word.

And some people couldn’t understand how Kid Rock could go from a meeting with President Trump to drinking Bud Light in the same day.

Perhaps it is time for the American public to accept that Bud Light made a mistake and they want to correct it?

A top marketing exec from Anheuser-Busch said this as reported in the Daily Mail:

In times like this, when things get divisive and controversial so easily, I think it’s an important wake-up call to all of us marketers first of all to be very humble, he said.

That’s what we’re doing, being very humble, and really reminding ourselves of what we should do best every day, which is to really understand our consumers.

Of course, what that executive didn’t know in May when he made that statement was just how “humbled” Anheuser-Busch would be as The Hill reported in early August under the headline “How Bud Light lost its crown”:

Bud Light has been locked for months in a contentious dispute with its consumer base over a brief partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney that has cost the brand and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, billions in market value.

The brewing giant last week said it plans to lay off hundreds of U.S. corporate employees….

So what is America to do? Has Budweiser/Bud Light suffered enough for its blatant pandering to the woke crowd?

Should we go back to loving and supporting an iconic American beer brand?

Kid Rock seems to think so.
