Ah, the allure of a ‘defund the police’ chant – so catchy, so trendy, and evidently, so… hypocritical?
For those still scratching their heads over the radical left’s rhetoric, here’s a stunner for you: Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, along with her “squad” of like-minded lawmakers, doesn’t seem so keen on skimping out on her own security.
Quite the contrary.
Just as many parents will tell their kids, “do as I say, not as I do,” it appears AOC and her comrades have been indulging in a security splurge, racking up an eye-watering sum of over $1.2 million in campaign funds on private security since their rise to power.
That’s right, the very individuals trumpeting the call to strip funding from law enforcement appear to have no qualms about ensuring they’re well-protected.
Let’s delve a bit deeper.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-Missouri) takes the cake in this ostentatious display of double standards, having reported spending more than $730,000 on private security.
And if that wasn’t enough to raise eyebrows, $75,000 of that went straight to her husband’s pockets!
Meanwhile, AOC (D-NY) didn’t lag far behind, dishing out north of $272,000 – a portion of which went towards beefing up security at her district offices.
But hold onto your hats – here’s the kicker.
Despite Rep. Bush’s loudly vocalized anti-gun sentiments, a hefty chunk of her security spend went to St. Louis-based Peace Security, a pro-gun, right-wing private security firm that champions the Second Amendment.
Irony, anyone?

While the ‘defund the police’ narrative continues to reverberate across the nation, these lawmakers seem more than happy to pull out their checkbooks for personal protection.
Perhaps the message they’re sending is that their safety is paramount, while the safety of everyday Americans can take a back seat.
After all, why let consistency get in the way of a good old-fashioned spending spree?
The New York Post has the details:
Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her eight-comrade “squad” of anti-cop lawmakers have shelled out more than $1.2 million in campaign funds on private security since taking office, records show.
Leading the way is Cori Bush (D-Missouri), who has reported spending more than $730,000 on private security – including $75,000 she funneled to her own husband – and Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), whose $272,000-plus tab includes security upgrades at her district offices.
Bush’s campaign spending on security predates her 2021 arrival in the House of Representatives.
Since she first ran for Congress in 2019, she’s paid $736,748 for security services.
Among the benefactors of her donor’s largesse was St. Louis-based Peace Security, a pro-gun, right-wing private security firm that racked up $380,947 despite reportedly promoting the Second Amendment — in sharp contrast to Democratic socialist Bush’s anti-gun campaign messaging.
Have we officially entered the twilight zone?
Or is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trying out a new brand of comedy?
In a bewildering assertion, AOC now claims that by increasing funding for the New York Police Department, Mayor Eric Adams is actually “defunding safety.”
Confused?
You’re not alone.
During a stint on “The Daily Show”, the New York congresswoman took a perplexing stance.
She argued that it’s a grievous error for Adams to bump police salaries instead of funneling that money into public schools and violence prevention programs.
“We’re now at a point,” she claimed, “where most officers earn more than a teacher with a master’s degree confronting the same violent scenarios.”

But the real head-scratcher? AOC’s insinuation that by diverting funds away from community programs and bolstering the “militarized” NYPD, city leaders are actually sabotaging safety.
Fox News has more details on AOC’s delusional thinking:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that New York City Mayor Eric Adams was “defunding safety” by increasing police wages for the New York Police Department.
ADVERTISEMENTDuring an interview on “The Daily Show,” the New York Democrat argued it was a mistake for Adams to increase police officer salaries instead of investing the money into public schools and violence prevention programs.
“We’re now at a point where officially, most officers are paid more than a teacher with a master’s degree serving the same kids, involved in the same [violent] incidents,” she argued.
The congresswoman claimed that by cutting investments into community programs and increasing funding for the “militarized” NYPD, leaders were “defunding safety.”
With this convoluted reasoning, one can’t help but wonder: Is she serious?
Or just trying to ruffle feathers?
One thing’s for sure – this level of mental gymnastics is Olympic-worthy!
At least with President Trump, he was concerned with the safety and security of all Americans!
