Trump reportedly arrived in the nation’s capital around 3 p.m. after flying from Bedminster, New Jersey, ahead of his appearance in a D.C. courthouse.

Former President Trump’s is appearing in court Thursday related to his federal indictment in the 2020 election investigation.
Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, who is also in the Washington courtroom, unveiled the four-count indictment Tuesday, alleging Trump was the director of a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and was also central to a campaign to prevent votes from being certified Jan. 6.
Trump is appearing before a magistrate judge.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has been randomly assigned to handle Trump’s case going forward.
Chutkan has handled cases related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, and she also ruled against Trump when he filed a lawsuit in November 2021 that sought to block the National Archives from handing over documents related to the events of Jan. 6 to the House select committee investigating the attack.
The charges in the 4-count indictment against Trump include:
- Conspiracy to defraud the US
- Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding
- Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding
- Conspiracy against Rights
