Al Sharpton has made some ridiculous comments over the years.
However, his remarks discussing Donald Trump’s latest indictment may take the cake.
“One day our children’s children will read American history, and can you imagine our [children] reading that James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government?” Sharpton asked.
Who wants to tell him?
Those two men DID overthrow the government.
It’s known in history as the American Revolution.
Someone never bothered to learn the very basics of American history.

As others have pointed out, this is one of the dumbest comments ever made on television. Historical illiteracy.

Besides the obvious American Revolution, Jefferson’s supporters did at times entertain ideas of overthrowing the government in the 1790s. This was not a foreign idea to the Founding generation https://t.co/CYJKJQmru2

Sharpton displayed his historical illiteracy while attempting to draw comparisons to the J6 witch hunt indictment against Donald Trump.
Trump arrived in the nation’s capital Thursday for his arraignment.
