Fox News reports:

“They have found his body and confirmed it’s him,” his shattered father, Jeffrey Castic, told Fox News Digital. “It appears to have been death by misadventure. His wallet and phone were found on him.”

NYPD detectives called the family a little after 2 p.m. on Tuesday to deliver the devastating news.

A passerby spotted Castic’s body floating in a section of Newton Creek called English Kills early Tuesday at 11:09 a.m. and called 911, according to police.

The New York Post added:

John Castic, a 27-year-old Illinois native who lived in Lower Manhattan, disappeared after leaving the Bushwick hotspot at about 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the NYPD.

At about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a man spotted a bloated, shirtless body floating face-down in the English Kills, a branch of the East River tributary, near 1100 Grand Street.

The man called the cops, who sent the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit to recover the body, which was later identified as Castic, cops and sources said. The body had no obvious signs of trauma, apart from drowning, police sources said.

Castic was remembered on Tuesday as an “amazing person” by his close friend, Sara Kostecka of Chicago.

He is very charismatic, high energy with a good sense of humor,” Kostecka, 25, told The Post. “Whatever happened, he did not deserve this.”

She added that Castic was a “very responsible individual” who would not just disappear.

“This is atypical behavior,” she said.

Castic is the second individual recently to disappear near the music venue and be found dead in the same creek.

Karl Clemente, 27, disappeared near the venue on June 11th.

Staffers reportedly turned Clemente away because they said he had been drinking.

He was found in the creek a few days later.

Clemente’s father is suspicious the cases may be linked.

“There’s something weird here,” Alex Clemente told Fox News Digital.

“There might be some connection.”

Cont. from Fox News:

Video surveillance shows him walking toward a nearby gas station, but there was no footage of him inside.

Additional footage recorded minutes later allegedly shows Clemente fleeing down Metropolitan Avenue.

“Why was he running?” said Alex Clemente. “Someone was chasing him. There’s something fishy here.” Unlike Castic, Clemente’s wallet and phone were not found with his body.
