(WATCH) ESPN Presenter Collapses on TV

ESPN soccer analyst and former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, 54, collapsed during a live broadcast Sunday evening.

The former Newcastle United standout, who appeared in the 2006 World Cup for Trinidad and Tobago, dropped to the ground while discussing AC Milan’s friendly with Real Madrid with broadcast partner Dan Thomas.

“Shak! Shak! We need some help! We need medical!” Thomas shouts after Hislop collapses.

“Shaka is conscious. The medics are looking after him,” Thomas tweeted Sunday night.

“As it stands, it’s good news. He’s [Shaka Hislop] conscious. He’s talking. I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all. He’s apologized profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him,” Thomas said in a video update posted by ESPN FC.

“Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is, that Shaka’s conscious and we spoke to his family as well, because you imagine seeing that happen live. There can’t be many more things that can scare you amongst a family. We spoke to his wife and things are looking okay,” Thomas added.

“Got mine. Get yours! It’s not a debate. It’s no longer even a discussion,” Hislop wrote.

“Former Toon Goalkeeper and Honorary President of Show Racism the Red Card Shaka Hislop urges people to get the Covid vaccine and paying special credit to all those who are helping us get through the pandemic,” Newcastle City Council tweeted in August 2021.

“I’m here to implore you. Go out and get vaccinated. I got mine months ago and I felt so much better for it,” Hislop said in the video message.
