Gavin Newsom Forcing Local School Board To Use (Alleged) “Gay Predator” Social Studies Books!

Limited Government is best.

Decentralized, limited, local Government is even better.

We don’t need an overactive government running all aspects of our lives, but in the instances where limited government is helpful for organization or safety, it is best when decentralized and put on as local a level as possible.

For instance, school boards.

The whole intent of a school board is so that those living in those school districts and sending their children to those school districts can have some input over what happens in their local school district.

Makes sense.

But if the Governor of your state can just override your local school board’s decision, what’s the point of having a school board in the first place?

And with that, you immediately see the problems of having Tyrants in power, especially in high places of authority like a Governor or President.

Gavin Newson is a sick, sick puppy.

Even watching him speak creeps me out.

Sounds like a slimy, slick-tongued devil talking.

Does he sound that way to anyone else?

I get the creeps just listening to that demon.

So let’s back up for a minute and set the stage for this story.

The local school district at Temecula Valley Unified School District has rejected a new Social Studies book for it’s curriculum which is being pushed by the Governor’s office.

Why?

Because Unit 12 talks about Harvey Milk, a man who is alleged to have raped multiple teen boys.

More on Harvey in a moment.

Strange, but this small inland community of ranchers and business owners didn’t want someone like Harvey Milk featured in their textbooks.

They agreed to accept the books with his chapter removed, but that wasn’t good enough.

Governor Newsom has threatened them with a $1.5 MILLION fine unless they relent.

The boot of big Government.

The boot of a Tyrant.

The boot of a Devil.

If you can stand to listen to it, here is the slimy Devil talking so proudly about how he was going to force that book in there:

The evil just dripping from this video is palpable.

Makes me sick.

The HuffPost had previously reported on Harvey Milk:

Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to hold political office in California, is set to break new ground once again as the first LGBT official to be featured on a postage stamp. But not everyone is pleased with the honor.

In a new interview, the Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber accused the U.S. Postal Service of “whitewashing” reality and “historical revisionism” in choosing to feature Milk on the forthcoming postage stamp, which will be issued next year.

“Harvey Milk was known as a pederast,” Barber told One News Now. “That’s a man who in his mid-30s had a sexual appetite for teenage boys as young as 15 years old.”

He continued: “Harvey Milk was demonstrably, categorically an evil man based on his rape of teenage boys, And the fact that our U.S. government would be commemorating and recognizing him as some kind of hero really just boggles the mind.”

You can read the full interview with Barber here.

Of course, the remarks come as little surprise given Barber’s history of anti-gay proclamations. Earlier this year, he slammed adoption rights for same-sex couples as “egocentric” and “purchasing children.”

You gotta love these parents for boldly speaking out:

That guy is a hero!

Back to the textbooks:

NBC News reports more on how Newsom is using the fine as a club:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a $1.5 million fine against the Temecula Valley Unified School District less than a day after conservative board members voted to reject a state-endorsed curriculum that includes a short biography of gay rights leader Harvey Milk.

On top of the fine, the district east of Los Angeles will have to pay the $1.6 million shipping costs associated with sending the materials to the district, which he previously vowed to do if the board did not approve the material.

“After we deliver the textbooks into the hands of students and their parents, the state will deliver the bill — along with a $1.5 million fine — to the school board for its decision to willfully violate the law, subvert the will of parents, and force children to use an out-of-print textbook from 17 years ago,” Newsom said Wednesday in a statement.

The president of the school board, Joseph Komrosky, had said he would reject any such shipments, but school board members who voted in favor of the learning materials say they support Newsom’s actions.

“It was a mistake to reject the curriculum,” board member Steven Schwartz said Wednesday. “When you play with fire, sometimes you get burned.”

Board member Allison Barclay said that “it is devastating to receive news of a fine of this magnitude.”

If you ask me, this school board should have FULL CONTROL over their curriculum:

In the end, facing a fine they couldn’t pay, Newsom wins.

Anyone else pissed off?

From ABC News:

The Temecula Valley school board on Friday adopted a social studies curriculum that includes slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk. The curriculum had been approved by parents and teachers after initially rejecting it.

“Fortunately, now students will receive the basic materials needed to learn,” said Gov. Gavin Newsom in a statement following Friday’s vote.

Newsom previously warned that the district could be sanctioned if it didn’t use the state-approved curriculum.

The curriculum in question is titled “California’s Cultural Contributions,” board member Allison Barclay of the Temecula Valley Unified School District told CNN.

“Within the lesson, there are several sections, such as artists, architects, writers, educators, discussing Californians who made substantial contributions in these areas,” she said. “Under the heading ‘Protests,’ one paragraph discusses gay rights in California and under the heading ‘Court Cases,’ there are two paragraphs that discuss the court cases that allowed gay marriage in California.”

She said a supplemental resource lists Harvey Milk, a gay rights activist and politician who was assassinated in 1978, along with San Francisco Mayor George Moscone. Milk was believed to be the first openly gay person elected to public office in California.

The board voted 3-2 on May 16 to reject the curriculum, with some board members claiming there was not enough parental involvement in the creation process and making comments attacking Milk.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is intervening in a controversy over textbooks with an LGBTQ reference in Temecula, saying the state will buy the books and fine the school district.
Parents at a June public hearing spoke against the rejection of the curriculum, which is for grades 1-5.

“This has never been about parents’ rights,” Newsom said. “It’s not even about Harvey Milk – who appears nowhere in the textbook students receive. This is about extremists’ desire to control information and censor the materials used to teach our children.”

Newsom said the state’s Justice and Education departments were investigating.

The school board president, Dr. Joseph Komrosky, said in a statement before Friday’s meeting that it would focus on “the potential adoption of curriculum that meets all state and federal mandates.”

The meeting came just days after the board voted for a second time to block social studies curriculum that mentioned Milk.

The issue first blew up at a meeting last month, when the school board majority questioned whether Milk, who was the first openly gay man to hold public office in the state of California, should be included in supplemental materials when teaching civil rights to 4th grade students.

Their concern revolves around reports that Milk, when in his 30s, had a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
