This may take the grand prize for the most ridiculous comment ever made by a U.S. congress member.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) came to the aid of George Soros after a Republican reportedly criticized the DAs he has supported.
“We have accusatory commentary of Soros DAs. Let us not put an individual that is not here, a contributing American, and jeopardize his life for always throwing his name out,” she said.
“I am offended by that. Soros does not deserve that. He is an American and a patriot. And he also comes from a minority community one might say. And you create a dangerous situation. That’s unfortunate,” she continued.

Jackson Lee has represented Texas’s 18th congressional district, most of central Houston, for nearly 30 years.
The congresswoman announced her run for Houston mayor earlier this year.
From The Texas Tribune:
U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is joining the Houston mayoral race, scrambling the already crowded field.
“Sheila Jackson Lee wants to come home to be your mayor for the city of Houston,” Jackson Lee said at a church event Sunday. “I will not be able to do it without each and every one of you.”
Jackson Lee’s comments were livestreamed by the church, City Cathedral Church, and shared Monday morning by Urban Reform, a Houston online publication.
Jackson Lee enters a mayoral contest that is already well underway. The early frontrunner has been state Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, and his competitors include Chris Hollins, the former Harris County clerk; Robert Gallegos, a member of the Houston City Council; Gilbert Garcia, former chairman of the city’s Metropolitan Transit Authority; and Amanda Edwards, a former City Council member.
George Soros has consistently pumped money towards Democrat candidates for Harris County (Houston) District Attorney.
The Associated Press reported back in 2016:
Billionaire financier George Soros is putting a half-million dollars toward an advertising campaign on behalf of the Democratic nominee for Harris County district attorney.
Soros is a longtime backer of liberal causes who’s trying to boost the efforts of challenger Kim Ogg to unseat Republican incumbent Devon Anderson.
Kim Ogg is the current Harris County District Attorney.
According to Fox News, Soros is partially-financing Ogg’s re-election bid.
The policy comes as Ogg is running for re-election. Billionaire financier George Soros put in half-million dollars toward an advertising campaign for Ogg, a Democrat, during her 2016 run for the office.
Soros, a longtime backer of liberal causes and often a target of Republicans, has donated to district attorney races in several states, including Florida, New Mexico, Los Angeles and to political candidates to elect progressives including the district attorney in Travis County, Texas.
Soros-backed ads appear to show he wants to reduce perceived racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
Ogg has pledged to focus tax dollars away from misdemeanor marijuana charges and toward the prosecution of violent criminals.
