A New York middle school principal was charged with attempted rape after allegedly using Snapchat to lure a 16-year-old girl for sex.
Police said Johnson City Middle School Principal Daniel Erickson, 55, brought condoms, McDonald’s chicken nuggets and a Grimace milkshake to a remote location.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested Erickson on Friday.

The New York Post reports:
Erickson, 55, had been allegedly communicating with the teen for at least a week before his arrest.
The New York principal made statements to her that indicated he was “going to engage in sexual conduct with the minor,” the sheriff’s office said.
Erickson initially posed as a younger adult before revealing his true identity to the girl, officials said.
He then used “his position as the Johnson City Middle School Principal and school district database information to convince the 16-year-old girl who he really was,” authorities said.
Erickson made multiple attempts to meet with the girl — even showing up at her house — but the teen never came outside to see him, officials said.

“As a father, I know this is a nightmare scenario for any parent,” Sheriff Fred Akshar said.
“We entrust our schools with the care and safety of our children, and to have an individual violate that trust, abuse their power and prey on a very student charged in our schools’ care is beyond disgusting,” he added.
Fox News noted:
After the sheriff’s office was notified of the allegations, the young girl was no longer in danger, authorities said. The principal agreed to meet with the girl in a remote location in the county on July 7 with the intention of engaging in sexual relations, but he was immediately arrested by authorities, the sheriff’s office said.
He was taken into custody without incident and charged with luring a child, which is a Class E felony, and third-degree attempted rape, a Class A misdemeanor.
“Mr. Erickson brought with him a Grimace shake from McDonald’s, chicken nuggets and a box of condoms,” Akshar said at a press conference Monday.
He is being held without bail and the investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
Erickson was placed on administrative leave, according to Johnson City Central School District Superintendent Eric Race, and is not permitted on school property or to use any school property or devices.
