The World Economic Forum’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) agenda took center stage at the organization’s recent summit in China.
One clip that’s going viral on social media shows the global elitists discussing digital, programmable money to block citizens from purchasing ‘undesirable items.’
Tolani Senior Professor of Trade Policy at Cornell University Eswar Prasad spoke about this digital cashless society governments would implement.
“If you think about the benefits of digital money, there are huge potential gains. It’s not just about digital forms of physical currency. You can have programmability,” Prasad states.
The economist also says the digital money can have “expiry dates.”
He admits many people would consider it a darker world if the government has the ability to decide what citizens can and cannot purchase.
It’s a digital, totalitarian nightmare.
“You could have, as I argue in my book, a potentially better, some people might say darker, world where the government decides the units of central bank money can be used to purchase some things but not other things that it deems less desirable, like say ammunition, drugs, pornography, or something of the sort,” he said.
“And that is very powerful in terms of the use of a CBDC,” he added.

And CBDCs are right around the corner in the United States.
The Federal Reserve is preparing the launch of its “FedNow” digital platform, which lays the foundation for a CBDC.
FedNow is prepared to go live July 20th.
We’ve been covering FedNow for a while at WLTReport.
