UPDATE: On Explosive Devices Detonated In DC


As WLT reported earlier, authorities are searching for suspects that detonated several explosive devices outside of numerous stores and a bank in DC.

The explosions started at 4:30 AM on Sunday at Truist Bank  near Washing Place.

Six minutes later another explosion occurred outside of the Nike Store on the 700 block of H Street.

At around 4:45 am the suspects would throw a Molotov cocktail at a Safeway.

No injuries were recorded from the explosions but property damage has occurred.

Investigators were able to obtain a photo of the  get away car which shows the car is from Maryland and has a license plate number of 17971CK.

Currently there’s a $20,000 reward on any information that leads to the suspects:

Authorities are searching for suspects they say detonated explosive devises outside a bank and several stores in northeast D.C. over the weekend.

Police say the incidents started around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when an explosive device was detonated on the sidewalk near the ATM at the Truist Bank in the 2300 block of Washington Place.

At 4:36 a.m., police say the suspects detonated an explosive device on the sidewalk in front of the doors at the Nike Store in the 700 block of H Street.

Around 4:45 am, investigators say the suspects threw a Molotov cocktail style object at the Safeway store located in the 300 block of 40th Street.

Damage was caused in each of the instances. Police say it appears the suspects targeted the commercial establishments but not any people. No injuries were reported.

Officials released images captured by surveillance cameras of a vehicle used by one of the suspects described as a gold/champagne color Acura TL with a Maryland plate: 17971CK.

Police in Washington, D.C., are seeking the public’s help locating the suspects behind attacks against a bank, a retail outlet and grocery store damaged with explosive devices within 15 minutes early Sunday morning.

Three stores in northeast D.C. reported damage, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division.

The first explosive went off at about 4:30 a.m. near Washington Place outside an ATM at a Truist bank before the suspect drove off, according to authorities.

Another device reportedly exploded outside a Nike store on H Street, north of Capitol Hill, just six minutes after the first blast before the suspect drove away.

A suspect then allegedly tossed a Molotov cocktail at a Safeway on 40th Street at around 4:45 a.m. before speeding off, police said.
