Special Counsel John Durham Goes Under Oath Before Congress

Special Counsel John Durham went under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning.

In Durham’s opening statement, he stated his investigation into the Trump-Russia probe by the FBI was “sobering”.

Durham also noted that FBI agents have even come up to him and apologized for the FBI’s complete mishandling of the Trump-Russia probe.

In the Judiciary Hearing, Durham reiterated his findings that the FBI’s probe into Trump was ‘ based on raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence.’

Here’s what The Daily Mail reported:

Former special counsel John Durham revealed that FBI agents have apologized to him for their handling of the Trump-Russia probe as he confirmed he saw bias among key officials in charge of the investigation like Peter Strzok.

‘I have had any number of FBI agents who I’ve worked with over the years, some are retired, some are still in place, who have come to me and apologized for the manner in which that investigation was undertaken,’ Durham revealed at the top of the high-profile Judiciary hearing.

To him, that proved that a majority of the FBI are ‘good, hard-working people’ who ‘swear under their oaths to abide by the law.’

‘Our findings are sobering,’ said Durham. ‘Having spent 40 years plus as a federal prosecutor, they are particularly sobering to me.’

The FBI has come under attack since the investigation into allegations of collusions between the Trump campaign and Russia, Operation Crossfire, for the raid on Mar-a-Lago and for allegations the agency slow-walked an investigation into Hunter Biden.

Durham was appointed by then-Attorney General Bill Barr in 2019 to look into misconduct related to ‘Crossfire Hurricane’, which investigated now-debunked Trump-Russia collusion allegations. He concluded four years later that the FBI opened the flawed probe ‘based on raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence.’

Here’s what the New York Post reported:

Special counsel John Durham went after House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jerry Nadler (D-NY) Wednesday for accusing his team of “glaring investigative missteps” during its four-year probe of the FBI investigation into alleged collusion between former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.

Durham, 73, singled out the Manhattan Democrat during his opening statement at a panel hearing, saying he and his colleagues “carried out our work in good faith, with integrity and in the spirit of following the facts wherever they lead without fear or favor” and that “the findings set forth in this report are serious and deserve attention from the American public and its representatives.”

“At no time and in no sense did we act with a purpose to further partisan political ends. To the extent that somebody suggests otherwise — that’s simply untrue and offensive,” he told the House panel of his 306-page report following Nadler’s opening remarks.

“For one, we found troubling violations of law and policy in the conduct of highly consequential investigations, directed at members of the presidential campaign, and ultimately a presidential administration,” Durham went on. “To me, it matters not whether it was a Republican campaign or a Democrat campaign. It was a presidential campaign.”
