Revolt Successful—GOP Rebels Stall RINO Agenda

Whoever said conservatives can’t fight back?

WLTR recently reported that Kevin McCarthy is facing a rebellion from inside the GOP—a rebellion that may potentially unseat him as party leader.

Furious over the debt ceiling deal, members of the Freedom Caucus engaged in a floor protest against McCarthy and the GOP establishment.

As of the time of this writing, the House has been forced to cancel votes for the remainder of this week due to the ensuing ‘chaos’ from the protests …

It looks like the Freedom Caucus’ rebellion is working, Rep. Andy Biggs writes:

“Some of my @freedomcaucus colleagues and I turned up the heat on House Leadership this afternoon. We rebuked their procedural vote today to make it clear that they cannot continue to side with Democrats over their own party and extort party members for support.”

Rep. Gaetz and Lauren Boebert recently told Steve Bannon on a segment of his War Room podcast:

Details of the story were provided by The Hill:

If they continue to vote against the rule resolutions governing debate on the House floor, conservatives can prevent leaders from bringing up any party-line measures for a vote.

Talks between members of the House Freedom Caucus who sunk the rule and GOP leaders were not fruitful, forcing leaders to keep the House in recess for the bulk of Wednesday before canceling a planned second shot at bringing up the rule — which would have allowed floor votes on gas stoves and regulatory reforms.

Washington Examiner tweeted this quote from Rep. Matt Gaetz, “We’re gonna force him into a monogamous relationship with one or the other.”

CNN had more:

The discord – both in the leadership team and more widely inside the conference – underscores the challenges of the next chapter of McCarthy’s speakership.

After enjoying a period of unity following his unruly run to win the gavel, McCarthy has faced unrest from the far-right of his conference in the aftermath of the debt limit law.

Now, as he pushes more bills aimed at keeping his conference unified against Democrats, he is squaring off with a band of rebels not afraid to throw the House into disarray in order to get the attention of the leadership.

Should McCarthy be REMOVED as Speaker?
