Latest Disaster Indicates More Trouble For Disney

It seems like every day I have to say the line “Go woke, go broke”.

Corporations should only be concerned with profit-making activities that are well within their domains. In the case of Disney, this would be producing animated children’s entertainment.

We previously reported that Disney announced massive layoffs and that the entertainment giant was seeing stark downward pressure on its stock.

It turns out that parents and families are increasingly rejecting Disney’s woke ideology and virtue signaling. …

Instead of addressing the core issue, Disney has decided to double down on its current course by continuing to push woke nonsense, socially engineered DEI schemes, and corporate propaganda.

The release of their reboot of “The Little Mermaid” is only their latest example of poor decision-making.

By all accounts, a franchise like The Little Mermaid should have been a summer blockbuster that netted Disney $1 billion or more in profit. …

According to sources, the film is on track to break even—this is the best-case scenario for the film at this point.

This recent headline from OutKick says it all:

Conservative influencer Lauren Chen and ‘red pilled’ journalist Andy Ngô discussed related developments to Disney’s reboot of “The Little Mermaid”.

Breitbart provided this cost breakdown and financial outlook for the film:

Between the production and promotion costs, the perverts at Disney dropped $390 million into this white elephant.

My math says it will have to gross something close to $800 million worldwide just to break even.

Movie theaters take about half of every ticket sold. Half of $800 million is $400 million.

If the movie grosses just $600 million worldwide, that is a $200 million loss, and that kind of domestic gross is still a big “if.”

Many are clamoring for the ‘old Disney’ that did not take a political line and was purely focused on children’s entertainment and profit.

The Post Millennial reports:

Some claim that racism was causing a low rating of Disney’s live-action reboot of The Little Mermaid.

The Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) site has a notification that they had to use a different weighting system in rating the title due to “unusual activity.”

“Our rating mechanism has detected unusual voting activity on this title.

To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied,” the notification reads.
