Old Navy Shuts Down Store In San Francisco, Worker Reveals Why

Another company is leaving the woke city of San Francisco.

Old Navy has officially announced they will shut down their downtown store in San Francisco after over 32 years of being in business.

The store which is located at 801 Market Street will shut down on July 1st.

Gap headquarters refused to share a reason why they are shutting down the location but a whistleblower from the store has gone on record saying the store is being closed due to shoplifting being “out of control.”

Here’s what the NBC Bay Area reported:

Old Navy announced Friday that it will close its downtown San Francisco store this summer.

The store, located at 801 Market Street will close on July 1, according to a Gap Inc. spokesperson. The store opened in the 1990s.

Old Navy’s parent company Gap Inc. said in a statement that they are already working to identify new locations in downtown San Francisco that will better serve the needs of the business and their customers.

Old Navy is the latest retailer to close a store in San Francisco. Earlier this month, Nordstrom announced it will close both of its stores in downtown on July 1.

CBS had more on the story:

Repeating an all too familiar story in downtown San Francisco, another major retailer has become the victim of rampant shoplifting.

In an exclusive interview, an Old Navy worker, who does not want to be identified, described the scope of the problem.

“They’re (shoplifters) there every day. When I’m on the floor walking around I would say at least 12, 14 during the day,” the worker said. “It’s really bad because it’s downtown San Francisco and it’s really out of control.”

Cell phone video shows a shoplifter walking out with a Walgreens bag full of stolen items, according to an Old Navy employee.
