From NBC News:
Two of Bolsonaro’s closest aides, Mauro Cid and Max Guilherme, have been arrested in the same operation, the sources added.
Federal police earlier in the day said in a statement they were serving 16 search and seizure warrants and six preventive arrest warrants in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro as part of the operation, but did not disclose the names of those targeted.
Brazilian police reportedly seized Bolsonaro’s cell phone in the raid.
Per Reuters:
Brazilian police on Wednesday raided former President Jair Bolsonaro’s home and seized his cell phone as part of an investigation into his COVID-19 vaccination records.
The investigation may answer questions about how Bolsonaro, a strident coronavirus skeptic who vowed never to get a COVID vaccine, was registered as vaccinated in health records made public in February.
Bolsonaro confirmed the raid on his home in Brasilia to journalists and reiterated that he had never taken a COVID vaccine. He denied any role in allegedly forging documents.
Bolsonaro returned to Brazil at the end of March after spending three months in the United States.
NPR noted:
Former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro arrived back in Brazil on Thursday after three months in Florida.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in Brasília, the capital city, to greet Bolsonaro when he landed, but he was escorted out a side exit. Bolsonaro went directly to his Liberal Party’s headquarters and was greeted by more supporters to chants of “the captain has returned.”
While in Florida, Bolsonaro frequently met with supporters, largely Brazilian expats, and conservative groups.
