Did Zelensky Play a Hand Getting Tucker Carlson Fired?

America is still buzzing over Fox News’ decision to fire Tucker Carlson.

There is still a great deal of speculation about who else may have been involved with the decision.

Apparently we can add Ukraine’s favorite actor/Prime Minister to the equation.

A new report from Semafor claims that Volodymyr Zelensky had phone conversations with Fox Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch, as well as his son Lachlan, right before Tucker Carlson was let go.

The conversations took place in March, and among the topics discussed were the war in Ukraine and the deaths of two Fox News journalists outside of Kyiv a year earlier.

According to one individual familiar with these conversations, Senior Ukrainian officials were critical of Carlson’s coverage of the war.

While Zelensky hasn’t directly addressed these objections, it was clear that the Ukrainian officials were not a fan of Carlson’s work.

The Gateway Pundit dove into the conversations between Zelensky and Rupert Murdoch:

On Monday, Semafor reported that Fox News Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch held a previously unreported call with Ukrainian dictator Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier this spring. The two men discussed the war and the anniversary of the deaths of Fox News journalists last March.

Zelenskyy also had a conversation with Lachlan Murdoch on the same subject. Semafor notes Zelenskyy mentioned this as an aside during a national broadcast last month.

These talks came weeks before the Murdochs pulled Tucker off the air, though he still remains under contract.

The report from Semafor also mentions that Tucker has been openly criticized by some of Zelenskyy’s top aides.

The Post Millennial has more:

These phone conversations came weeks before the ouster of Fox News’ biggest star, an outspoken critic of America’s involvement in the war in Ukraine, Tucker Carlson.

One person familiar with the calls told Semafor that Senior Ukrainian officials had raised their objections to Carlson’s coverage of the war to Fox Executives, but Zelensky did not address these objections during the calls.

“Clearly, he spooked a lot of members into not being fully supportive of Ukraine,” one senior Republican congressional aide told the outlet. Carlson’s ouster, the aide added, “probably reduces the loudest voice out there against US support.”

Journalist Glenn Greenwald noted Carlson’s removal and his previous stances against the war.

Zelensky may have even more influence than we thought..
