Mitch McConnell To Retire?

Everyone is talking about it. …

Mitch McConnell has been trending recently due to a recent concussion that he reportedly sustained several weeks ago; since then, he has been absent from government.

Naturally, rumors started to swirl and it was even reported that the GOP was gearing up to hold talks and meetings about the future leadership of the party. …

However, on Thursday McConnell announced “I am looking forward to returning to the Senate on Monday,”—despite this, the rumors have not subsided.

It is no secret that the 81-year-old McConnell is not a beloved figure in the GOP, a quick internet search will indicate that he is emblematic of RINO establishment figures…

His recent injuries have started a conversation about the future of the party and I do not doubt that the conversation will continue; McConnell might not be out just yet, but his days as party leader do seem to be numbered. …

Here are just some of the rumors circulating on Twitter:

The Spectator initially reported:

Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell has been out of the public eye for weeks, following a serious fall that hospitalized him.

Now multiple sources confirm that Senators John Barrasso of Wyoming, John Cornyn of Texas, and John Thune of South Dakota are actively reaching out to fellow Republican senators in efforts to prepare for an anticipated leadership vote — a vote that would occur upon the announcement that McConnell would be retiring from his duties as leader, and presumably the Senate itself,

According to Breitbart, McConnell’s approval rating plummeted, as rumors about his potential retirement continue to circulate:

McConnell lacks clear support among the Republican base, as 42 percent approve of his job performance and 40 percent do not.

Further, 19 percent “strongly” disapprove of his job performance, while ten percent strongly approve.
